In short: The scenery is more interesting than you might expect and the course has good PB potential if it's not too windy. In full: Good single lap route and surprisingly scenic for this part of the fens. The organisation went smoothly at all stages, although they could have been a bit faster in sorting out the water supplies at the end.
For this running of the race the wind was too strong from mile six onwards for me to crack my PB, but it was my fastest 10 miler for four years so shouldn't moan. Definitely a good one for a PB on a still day. Date of review: October 25, 2009

In short: Beautiful views, terrifying hill at the start that you will have to train for to run up. Good mixed field with slower runners as well as nutters. In full: The countryside is wonderful and the race starts in a field. After a rather informal start it's up that hill you go - about 1km of it. If you're doing the 10k there are some more climbs from about 6.5km and something quite serious up to 9km. The drop down to the finish was too steep for me to really let go without risk to life and limb - you can sprint the last 200m though.
This year was very warm, even for experienced runners, and the hills make it a non-starter as a PB route unless you spend all your training time running up the side of the Cheddar Gorge. But don't let anything I write put you off - you'll love it. Date of review: June 9, 2008
