In short: Great support along the whole route and great atmosphere In full: as with all mass running events, hard to get into a reasonable rhythm in the crowded first 2 miles. Other than that, great race and I got a PB - but the organisers seem to have steepened and lengthened the hill out of Welford..... Date of review: May 3, 2010

In short: Confusion at the start - lots of hills! In full: The start wasather confused - but I guess that this was down to the building works in the usual start place. Good atmosphere and lots of people obviously out to make the best of the fairly gruesome weather conditions! Date of review: March 2, 2010

In short: Too crowded for a PB for me In full: Fantastic event, fantastic atmosphere and incredible organisation. I was hoping for sub 2 hours but could never get enough space to stretch out - didn't spoil it though. Next time I'll try to start nearer the front! Date of review: September 22, 2009

In short: Excellent on-course encouragement, plenty of water, great cause In full: The atmosphere was really good, quite a lot of pre-run banter and nice to have so much support along the way. Not sure (well, my forerunner isn't sure!!) that it was actually 10k though! Date of review: July 18, 2009

In short: Great track side encouragement throughout race - lovely!! In full: Even the rain at the start didn't dampen the terrific atmosphere. The organisation was really good, the terrain interesting, fantastic marshalling and well worth the trip. There were a couple of places where narrowness held me back a little bit Date of review: July 14, 2009

In short: Good route, never too crowded, doesn't get any flatter does it? In full: I really enjoyed this race and - despite the heat - managed to beat last year's time (on self timing anyway). I'll be back (again)in 2010! Date of review: June 29, 2009

In short: My first half-marathon, loved it. Definitely coming back In full: Fantastic marshalling and organisation. First mile a bit crowded so lost time - I'll start nearer the front next year!! The hill just after Welford was a little impudent I felt... Great race, great encouragement all along the route (including a group of cheerleaders complete with pom-poms at Milcote!) plenty of water. Can't fault it - well done to the organisers who must have put in hours of planning. Date of review: May 12, 2009

In short: Toughest at the start - plenty of climbing. Crowded In full: Great marshalling, very clear and helpful. Quite a challenging course especially going up around the golf course. Very well organised and lots of trackside encouragement. My only complaint is that although I positioned myself in the right starting zone (50 - 60 min) it was so crowded that I couldn't get near my usual pace for the first 4 or so km - which is a shame as I enjoy hills. I think I would have got a PB if I could have rtretched my legs more earlier on. Date of review: April 5, 2009

In short: 2008 was my first "proper" race - loved it and got the bug. There is a little hill to enjoy... In full: I'd only done a couple of 3 mile fun runs prior to this and had completed my first 5 mile training run just 3 weeks before. I started running in Jan 2007 as a way of managing my diabetes but am now - thanks largely to Timberhonger - hooked! At the age of 46 and a "newbie" I doubt that I'll ever win anything but I've entered a few races this season and am enjoying being slightly further away from last place each time... In short: No hills but headwind was a challenge - but then it is an airfield!! In full: I really enjoyed this, especially the enthusiasm of the organisers and the clear directions. The final straight was a bit daunting but it's nice to run into a stadium (even if the seats were empty). The last time I did anything competitive at this exact venue was in 1987 when I did the first 1/4 mile in 14.98 seconds on an 1100cc Katana - a bit slower this time round!!
