In short: This race is good preparation for the London Marathon. In full: Good warm up race for the London Marathon! Its just a shame that the drinks are provided in plastic cups rather than in bottles. Running 20 miles demands more water and energy drink that was provided and it is easier to drink in bottles. Not much of an atmosphere as far as being cheered on by spectators but this race does give you a sense that if you can do this 20 mile race with no atmosphere then the Marathon of your choice should be more than achievable. Would have been nice to have had a bit more of a goody bag at the end ( some food would be great )and no toilet facilities were at the finish and the medal didnt have any kind of markings that showed / proved that it was indeed the Gloucester 20 mile race that had been run which is dissapointing. Some marshalls were superb, some were quiet and just watched you run past. Overall a beneficial event which is great for training for a marathon just some finishing touches could have made it a much better race. Date of review: March 18, 2012

In short: Virtually Flat 10k with a huge PB Potential In full: After reviewing the feedback from previous years I was quite sceptical about this 10k but have to say I was pleasantly surprised with it! Virtually no hills with the exception of a small one at the 5k mark which lasts about 30 seconds. The atmosphere was minimal but this was all on country lanes. Most of the runners seemed to be part of a running club which made me feel like I was at the back of the crowd but nonetheless had my best 10k time since May finishing in 50 mins 12secs. I will definitely be there next time round and, with some extra training before hand, will try to get my PB. Fun Run before was great as my little 3 year old daughter did her first run there....proud father moment! Dont know how I feel about her getting the same medal as me though. In short: Brilliantly Organised Event with a real community feel to it! Fantastic In full: This was a brilliant 10k which was extremely well organised with Marshalls virtually at every 400m of the course. 2 Water stations which offered cups and bottles of water really made the difference due to the hot weather. Sole Sisters have really pulled it out of the bag this year. Ill be back again next year and cant wait to see the photos when they come out tomorrow. Date of review: June 13, 2010

In short: Friendly run with local dignitaries starting and finishing the race. In full: On a boiling hot day, the unaware runner ( me ) who travelled from Bristol for his 10k fix under the guise of the flat/hilly description on RW website was somewhat concerned when the race organiser described the two hills on the course as ' killer hills '. He wasnt telling porkies! After hearing the story of disagreement the race organiser had with a local farmer around the 7k sign on his land, I was immediately impressed by the friendliness and warmth that this race brought with it. After a 1kish walk to the start line, the Mayor and the local MP made their speeches and set us off (not giving me much time to start my Garmin off ) The heat was intense and the dust from the canal route was challenging but nothing compared to the second hill which came after 6k. I gradually started ascending it and was applauded by four other runners for running past them as they walked it up. This applause was obviously too much for me as I continued around the corner to only see that the hill continued and that my hallway stairs werent as steep as this hill.
Overall it was a tough one. I did Bristol 10k two weeks before in 48mins and did this one in 57mins but the heat was intense and there wasnt much atmosphere or clusters of other runners to keep you at a faster pace. Nonetheless the race was enjoyable, the it was nice to hear my name read out as I approached the finish line and I was really impressed by the mayor staying to shake the hand of every finisher! A really nice touch! Free sweets, drink, nice medal and copy of Triathletes world made the hour worthwhile and I will return next year! Date of review: May 23, 2010

In short: Hilly, but the crowd atmosphere makes this a winner In full: Atmosphere created by the crowd makes this Half Marathon a must. It was tough, having to do two laps plays with your mind when getting to the end of lap 1 but the buzz keeps you going throughout. Nice to finish on a race track and I will definitely be there next year trying to get under 1hr 45mins. Just missed out today with 1hr 48 Date of review: May 2, 2010

In short: Good Atmosphere, Very well organised and great support from the town of Corsham In full: Lovely weather made today a great day in Corsham. Mental note for next year to get to the start line early as I got stuck at the back which slowed me down for about a mile. Band playing after the first half a mile which was a nice touch and throughout the run the marshalling was efficient.Although only 150 yards, the hill on the 9th KM proved to be a challenge for quite a few people including myself. The only criticism I have is that when you've finished the race you get given a goody back which is a flapjack, 10p sweet and 2 mint chocolates with a couple of leaflets wrapped in a Somerfield Shopping bag. You then get a choice of a tshirt or a mug which I thought was a nice touch. So I chose the Mug, walked away and read mug to realise it said April 2009 on it so promptly went back and swapped it for the t-shirt. Found that a bit dissapointing. Otherwise a fantastic event with great support from the locals and Im eagerly awaiting the results to be put up on the website. Ill be there next year. Oh, and I achieved my personal best. Bring on Exeter Half Marathon next week! Date of review: April 25, 2010

In short: Hard run but worth it. Nice atmosphere. In full: Not sure if this is actually a 10k as my Garmin says 9.4km. On RW website it says medals but didnt get one but for £6 on the day you cant really expect that. Good Marshalling, very encouraging. Lovely grounds and great crowd of runners. Enjoyable Date of review: April 11, 2010
