In short: Nice route along the river and through the churchyard.
In full: New route announced on the day held a few surprises. I'd been looking forward to the climb up the hill from Deerhurst as a chance to move up through the places (bit like Alberto Contador) so disappointed to see it had been taken out. Relieved to find that after all it still included some hilly bits which allowed for a bit of overtaking. Great atmosphere at the finish with a great crowd and good burgers. Took 3 minutes off my previous best at Apperley, so happy with that. Would just suggest that the website is updated for next time as all the info wad out of date. Will definitely be back though.

In short: lovely scenery, a bit hillier than expected though
In full: Really enjoyable day, excellent support in pockets around the course though understandably this thinned out on the second lap. Others have commented in shortage of drinks though I have to say I didn't notice. Nice route, a little more hilly than expected, and the extra loop on the second lap did seem to have a particularly spiteful section. Goody bag disappointing, also not having a different medal for full marathon. These are small things though and I hope to be back next year - depending on result of 5th attempt at London ballot!

In short: Very friendly, well-organised race
In full: This was a lovely, friendly race, setting off from the village cricket club to follow a route that was roughly half road and half cross country. The start took us through the village with lots of local support, and down a road descent towards the river, this probably being a good time to bank a bit of time. From there, it's a nice run along the river bank for a couple of miles down to the pretty village of Deerhurst and a return to the road. Here there's a bit of a sting in the tail with a climb back up to Apperley before levelling out for a fast finish back to the cricket club. Will definitely be doing this one again, it was a really nice route with a lovely, friendly atmosphere.

In short: Harder than I'm used to...
In full: Beautiful scenery, like many others I wasn't sure where to stand at the start so just tucked myself somewhere in the middle, which turned out to be about right. Course was hard work, even more hills than I expected but now I'll know for next year. More toilets would have been good - but at least the bushes were well watered ;) Will def be back next year.
