In short: Different class
In full: People who I had spoken to before said that it was worth doing for the crowds alone and they were right. If you ever need to restore your faith in the goodness of human nature either enter this event or go and see it.

I have never been more glad to see a finish line, but also more reluctant to finish. Like many I said never again on the day, but now the aches and pains have gone..............

In short: Still as hard as nails, but that's what makes it special
In full: Could not have wished for better weather this year. A well organised event, excellent post race food/drink and a nice course to run. Lovely way to spend a Sunday morning. Well done all round.

In short: Like clockwork
In full: That this is the first race is truly amazing. Very well run event, with everything that one could possibly need (including the weather!!) It was very nice to get some support around the course (albeit sporadic but that is what you get with a rural setting). However, things sure livened up at the finish with a nice cheering crowd and an excellent PA trying to make us give that little bit more effort.
In terms of the course, it was not as flat as expected and the hill at 11.5 miles was unkind (but then again the Scorpion run does give it away slightly).

Overall I would certainly recommend this to anyone, the only problems being that if entry is again limited next year to 300 you will have to be very quick to get in.

Well done and thank you all.

In short: Ideal for an introduction or a stepping stone to tri
In full: This really was so much fun. For a beginner like me, it was perfect I was not confident about the bike bit (yes that was me circling as far over to the left as I could!) or the transitions. However, you could not wish for a better intro. Being traffic free, you only had to worry about the faster bikes coming through which was a huge bonus.
I would most certainly do this event again and would strongly recommend it.

In short: Not at that price
In full: I must say that this event did not live up to my expectations. The route itself was fine, yes there was traffic but to be honest, when isn't there? Weather was a little too warm (can't blame anyone for that)and I did not see the Hi 5 available which would probably have helped the last few miles. Water stations, toilets etc all on par with other races that I have run. The real bug bear was the value for money aspect. The goody bag was very poor considering the cost involved. Thanks though to all the marshalls (especially those dealing with the traffic on the main road).

In short: Running seems to spoil the view
In full: Firstly, thanks to all the supporters, organisers and marshalls for everything. One of the best events I have ever run in. As for the course, the roads are relatively quiet and the tarmac nice and smooth, which helps compensate for the final hill! Undulating is an accurate description but I personally found the downhills worse as they seemed to sap the strength from you. Lovely evening with a nice village fete and deer roast for those waiting for the runners. Highly recommended

In short: Definitely undulating
In full: Many thanks to all the organisers, marshalls etc, it all seemed to run very nicely. I like the slightly eccentric goody bag and the memento was the best one I've seen. The course itself is challenging with plenty of ups and downs, but that makes it a bit more interesting. Plenty of water stations on a hot morning. Highly recommended if you are tiring of fast and flat courses.

In short: An excellent pre marathon test
In full: Thanks to all the supporters and organisers, this was a cracking way to spend a Sunday. Entered this one rather than another local event as it was only half the cost. Am I the only one finding that entering some of these events is becoming a little prohibitive? The course was challenging for those of us not used to hills which was what was required. Will certainly do this next year.

In short: What a scorcher!
In full: First up, let me thank everyone involved in organising the event including all the supporters who stayed out in the unbelieveably hot conditions.
As previous posts from previous years have said, the course is a little dull as it is circuits of 2.2 odd miles. That said, it did help as you knew exactly how far you had to go to get a drink!

This was my first marathon so I have nothing to judge it by, but it all seemed to flow quite nicely. Only suggestions would have been to start the 50k and marathon around 9am and the 10k a bit later as we were running in the midday heat. Also it would have been nice to have someone giving out the bags and mementos (which were excellent) rather than just picking them up yourself. Makes it a bit more special.

A big well done to everyone who took part; for those who were not there, the heat was just astonishing. A 50% drop out rate sums it all up.

In short: Ideal pre-marathon tester
In full: Well organised, great parking and other facilities. Slightly low key start but a nice run through the Gloucestershire countryside afterwards. Lack of first water station caught me out a bit but overall a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. Thanks to all those who organised it.
