In short: Well organised enjoyable half In full: This was a very well organised enjoyable half. It was a double loop which makes it great for chasing a fast time and it was reasonably flat. Went through nice parts of Croydon and has changed my perception of the borough. Date of review: April 7, 2013

In short: What a challenge! In full: Great race. Well organised. I'm a suburban slogger and I gave this a go. It was a super course for trail runners who like severe climbs. I'm glad I've done it but probably my first and last. There just aren't enough hills in Epsom to master a course like this! Would recommend. Date of review: October 21, 2012

In short: Felt more like mountaineering! In full: This was my second attempt at x - country. I am a road racer and wanted a change from pounding the tarmac. What can I say? This was certainly a challenge and I have never experienced the sheer relentless number of hills. These are not short swift climbs (although there were plenty of those) but full on mile long climbs. My Garmin recorded 3030 ft (ascent) and this was by far the hardest half I've done. I decided early on after one of the monster hills to do a run / walk strategy. Just as well and I got through in a fairly acceptable time 2:06. I can't wait to tackle this again but I'll have to get the practice in. Pounding the suburbs just can't prepare you for this type of terrain and race. I take my hat off to all the runners who ran the whole race.
The start/finish is pure classic rural Surrey. Grand school buildings, cricket oval etc.I would fully recommend this to anyone that wants a good mental & physical challenge. Date of review: July 22, 2012

In short: Great Half In full: This was a great half marathon. The roads were closed on route and it is a nice undulating course which keeps the mind focussed.
The car parking was good if you were prepared to walk. I parked at the car park by the Council Building.
The T-shirt, ice lolly and especially the Lucozade Sport were all greatly appreciated as well as the texting of race times within minutes of finishing the race.
There should had been more toilets for the number of runners/ walkers involved in the event. That's my only gripe.

In short: Nice Autumn Marathon In full: I was meant to run this last year but it got cancelled due to the weather. I got a low price consolation entry this year so thought why not.
It's my 3rd marathon and I enjoyed the fact that the marathon is over 3 laps. This followed my training pattern of running around Richmond Park three times for my long run.
I enjoyed the fact that I got a hard earned PB.
The organisation was good and there were plenty of marshalls around the course. The stretch of the course through a council estate was not the most scenic, but I was there to race not view the scenary.
All in all a great day out and the timing of the race makes it a great post summer, pre - Xmas event to train for. Date of review: November 21, 2011
