In short: Another really good Kenilworth half
In full: As always, this was a superb event - a well organized start, great course (undulating describes it nicely - although the hill at mile 12 is just that. A hill. And it catches me out every year!) plus a great goody bag, and a high quality technical running t shirt at the finish. Well done Kenilworth, see you in 2013!

In short: A break in the rain, and a few hills - a pleasant Sunday morning!
In full: A pleasant run - starting from the Jag club, and quickly heading out into the wilds of of the Coventry area. a course with a few hills, but a nice section of downhill from 8km onwards allowed for some good speed!

In short: Superb - my favourite 10k
In full: Another wonderful 2 castles race - and somehow another PB on this course! My only gripe being the early start - being in Warwick Castle before 8AM was hard going! However, as per usual, everything at the castle was seamless - the route was superb, and the crowds were excellent! More of the same next year please, but put some chocolate in the goody bag!

In short: Jolly good fun - a 'proper' race!
In full: I had an excellent time at this jaunt around Sutton Park. Certainly not a flat course (or indeed, on road) but very friendly and well organized. Marshalling in particular was superb, and the encouragement from all spectators was marvellous. As has been commented, a 'turn up, run, go home' sort of race. Superb!

In short: Superb
In full: Having applied (and failed) for years, I finally got a shot at the London this year - and it did not disappoint! An electric atmosphere from mile 1 to mile 26, some excellent sights and a superb sunny day made 22/4/12 a memorable marathon. Alas, there was no PB for me due to knee trouble, but the encouragement from the crowds dragged me round. Absolutely wonderful!

In short: An excellent race again, but crowded
In full: A thoroughly enjoyable race with an interesting course and great support through Leamington Spa. However, as many people have commented, the constricted footpaths and trails for the first 5k make it nigh on impossible for overtaking! Nontheless, a thoroughly enjoyable day out, perfect prep for the London marathon next week

In short: Favourite half, in my favourite city!
In full: Another brilliant Bath Half this year. Course, as many have said is not exactly flat, although is definately designed for speed! The atmosphere along the way is superb, and the people of Bath turned out en masse to cheer us 12000 on (the fact it was a beautiful March day didn't hurt I imagine)Kicking back in Thermae Bath Spa afterwards further helped to round off a top race. Back next year without fail!

In short: Another great stagger - with the added bonus of snow!
In full: Once again, a brilliant stagger organised by Stourbridge RC. Conditions underfoot were 'different' this year, what with the snowfall on saturday night, and I expected a reduced field would turn out - however, these hardy xc/multi-terrain types clearly aren't put off by a light (!) covering of snow. The race was once again exceptianally well organised, with lots of marshalls all along the course, and a great, testing route. Very happy (and surprised) to record a course PB, and another great souvenir awarded to all runners, showing much more thought&consideration than a lot of races. Great stuff - can't speak highly enough about this race.

In short: Lessons learnt
In full: So much better than 2010's offering. From start to finish, the race was a triumph. The waved start was a much better idea, and the feeder lanes down to the pens made sure that there was no congestion a la 2010.
Course itself hasn't changed since last year, but support - as with every year this run has been been held - was fantastic, with massed crowds cheering all runners on. Finish was smooth, and a decent goodie bag was presented to all finishers. Great stuff!

In short: A very good big city race
In full: Despite my dissappointment at not being able to run the full marathon due to a calf tear, I found the half marathon to have been just as rewarding an experience.
The start was excellent, and organisation was superb (one gripe however - my number didn't arrive until 2 days before the race. I put this down to my tansfer from the full to the half marathon. However, a friend who did not transfer, had to queue on the day to recieve his - causing some anxiety!). There was an excellent 'buzz around the runners village, and it truly did feel like a 'festival of running'.
The course was fast, flat-ish and well supported throughout. This event has all the hallmarks of a race capable of rivalling the Great North Run, and I shall be back to complete the full marathon next year!
