In short: Friendly race in most challenging weather conditions In full: This was my 4th time running Norwich Half. It is and remains a very friendly race and is well organised with a good goody bag and again a very nice medal!! Love the stripes!
There was nothing anyone could do about the weather - the showground being the showground meant that by the second lap there was great potential for a free full body mud bath and the puddles on the narrow lanes were almost impossible to avoid... don't think many runners tried to by the second round...
I got very cold myself despite running it faster than planned... but yes, I would do it again in better weather conditions - the whole atmosphere is very friendly and this makes this race very special to me despite it being a two lap course - thanks to all the marshalls and the few supporters who braved the rain with us crasy lot running in these conditions... - a special 'thank you shout out' to the two teenage girls singing to us (the eye of the tiger!!) to cheer us up - that was lovely - thank you girls! In short: Nice views & flat - but not much support along the way... In full: If you are hunting for a PB this might be a good race, even though the wind can add to the challenge... It's a small race though and the atmosphere is lacking a little, with few supporters along the way, or only clapping for their friends/family.... not sure whether I would do it again... In short: Nice canal run In full: This was a good race - different to road races and nicer on the foot - but little supporters along the way and it could feel a little lonely in parts - many bridges to keep crossing the canal and a longer than 13.1 course - but this is a small and friendly different race with a nice medal!! I would do it again and hope it will get re-measured! Date of review: July 10, 2013
In short: Lovely race - small and friendly In full: Really friendly race - well organised and the extreme weather / wind conditions just brought everyone closer together. This was my third time and I will be back despite living many many miles away - well done and thank you to the organisiers! Date of review: November 26, 2012
In short: great scenic run with good support In full: My 2 recommendations would be to change from plastic cups for the water to bottles and to provide more space to cross the bridge. It was such a hot day that some of the casualties might have been avoided by providing bottled water... cups just don't work when you are running! But great atmosphere and great support for such a small scale race. And thanks to WAITROSE for the fruit - nice touch! Date of review: June 28, 2010
In short: it was hilly - not bad, but hilly! In full: Not very scenic in comparison to other city halfs I have done, but ok for a smallish half. Really liked being texted my chip time just 30 minutes after the race!! Please more drinks at the finish line... just a bottle of one sport drink would have gone down very nicely... In short: Good smallish race In full: I had a great time and managed a good PB despite lack of training! There could be a bit more support along the way - a band or something be nice to run home to.... but well organised otherwise. Lovely sunshine this year too!! Thanks :-) Date of review: November 30, 2009
In short: Brilliant Half!! In full: I would recommend this race as a half marathon, great atmosphere and the hills did not feel too challenging, great crowd and good organisation. I came in with the samba band playing their drums and it just felt excellent! Thank you Nottingham, I be back next year - may be for the full! Date of review: September 14, 2009
