In short: One of the best races in the calendar! In full: Yet again this race delivered all you could wish from an event. A challenging course, brilliant organisation, fantastic pre and post race facilities all make this a must enter race. Date of review: March 16, 2015
In short: A beautiful morning for a run along the canal and along very well marshalled country raods. A fantastic race with a brilliant start and finish in the sports stadium. In full: yet again Grantham AC put on a tremendous event with flawless organisation at a very reasonable entry price. The sun shone and it was a pleasure to run the course on such a day. Two challenging hills but overall a fairly quick course. A must do race for the yearly calendar. Date of review: March 18, 2014
In short: A challenging half with superb organisation. In full: My second year at the Newtons Fraction and I will be back again. The course is fast despite the two hills and the cold wintery conditions today. The race is great value with ample car parking, a goody bag including a technical T-shirt and a bottle of local real ale. Hot showers and catering facilities on site were just what runners needed on a day like today. Add to this a very friendly upbeat atmosphere which make this a must do race. Well done Grantham AC. See you next year. Date of review: March 10, 2013
In short: A great local 10k. In full: First time at this event having missed last year due to work commitments. The event is just the right size with a 300 runner limit. I thought the organisation was first class and the marshals very encouraging and vocal. A quick course despite the windy conditions. Lots of local club runners but still beginner friendly. A bottle of beer at the finish was nice, however I'm not sure this was appreciated by everyone. I'll be back next year for sure. Date of review: June 23, 2012
In short: challenging course with friendly marshalls and a huge array of homemade Cakes with free tea and coffee at the finish, all for a fiver! In full: First time at this event and I would highly recommend it to others. Ample car parking, toilets without queues,a baggage tent, free tea and coffee and the array of cakes at the finish was a sight to behold. A great course with some challenging hills and woodland sections. Not a PB course but a great run where time doesn't really matter. Plenty of friendly marshalls and tape to guide the way. Drinks stations at regular intervals and a mug instead of a medal at the finish. I prefer a small useable momento instead of a medal which just gets put into a draw. The only hiccup being that a few of us runners missed the first major turn on the course due to a marshall not showing up. We ended up running an extra mile or so. This didn't really detract from my race as I enjoyed the challenge of working my way back through the field. I paid for it a litte in the last few miles when my legs felt like lead. The organisers were very apolgetic at the finish, they shouldn't be to harsh on themselves. They put on a great race with brilliant hospitallity all for a FIVER, I'll be back next year for sure. In short: First and definately not my last London. In full: An amazing experience. I found the expo to be very well organised without and long delays picking up race numbers. This despite arriving there at 16:50 on Friday afternoon. Very good goody bags however,I sympathise with the ladies who got goody bags full of men's toiletries. I would expect the bags to be siutable for both male and female runners. The organisation at the start was excellent. the baggage trucks were great and there were plenty of tiolets avaliable,I found a whole block of them completely empty only 40 minuts before the start. Marshalls were brilliant and St Johns Ambulance do a fantastic job.The support is life affirming and London seem's to come alive for the day. The sun shone which made it even better. Free transport on the tube is very welcome and I found the whiole experience to be fab. Finally the tracking service on the website is a brilliant idea. It alloes freinds and family who are unable to be in London to really feel part of the event. My wife who was in London was recieving updates via family at home as to my progress. I will be back next year without question! Date of review: April 29, 2012
In short: Despite the wet weather at the start this was an excellent race. In full: Very well organised race. Lots of free parking, clean toilets and changing rooms, baggage transport to the finish, excellent marshal's,plenty of well stocked water stations, very visable mile markers,a goody bay containing food not leaflets,a great hooded top. Showers, free sports massage for tired legs and refreshments all provided after the finish. What's not to like.
The only grumble is with fellow runners littering the course. Carry your rubbish and use a bin please! Date of review: March 18, 2012
In short: Fantastic organisation, ample free parking, great goody bag, quality t-shirt, hot showers and a fantastic stadium start/finish. Great value at £15, would recommend to all, well done Grantham AC. Date of review: March 11, 2012
In short: Best running event ever! In full: A brilliant weekend. Thankyou to Patrick and the organisation team for their hard work. The atmosphere was great with tremendous support from the marshalls spectators and fellow runners. The catering and tented village area was excellent and the toilets and showers were very well maintained with constant cleaning etc. I ran with a team of eight and we had never taken part in an event like this before. We loved the night run despite being a bit dubious beforehand. Only minor complaint would be that more showers are needed. To be fair the organisation team acknowledged this before the event had finished and promised more next year. We will be back next year slightly better organised with camping gear and hopefully more training. Not sure about solo running though, those runners along with the pairs were awesome. In short: Flat course with PB Potential. Hot weather made finishing a big achievement. In full: I had hoped to run a sub 3:10 to get into London. I soon decided that it was not going to happen in the scorching heat. I have never seen so many people retire from a small race. I don't blame them it was a brutal run.
The race itself was well organised. I liked the 2.2 Mile lap format. It seemed to break the distance up into more manageable sections. The drinks station was superb and the finish was in a picture perfect location. Good showers and refreashments afterwards along with ample car parking and easy access from the motorway made the race very hassle free to attend. Another plus is that as the race is on very quite country roads and multiple laps it is great for family and friends to spectate. The only minor negatives were the marshalls counting the runners laps advised several runners they had run fewer laps than they actually had, however they corrected themselves when questioned. It is not easy when so many runners are passing and also trying to keep track of the retired runners of which there were many and all in the heat so they should be thanked for their efforts. Another negative was the lack of someone handing out the memento's at the finish, you had to collect them yourself from the registration area, the memento's were really excellent so it was a shame. The heat is obviously uncontrollable but an earlier start would have been advisable. Overall a really great event. I found the atmosphere friendly and whilst not masses of spectators they were all very encouraging. A big thaks to all the marshall's, Ambulance staff, spectators, and fellow runners for a great day. And the person who set up the hose was a saviour. I'll be back on a coller day for that sub 3:10. Date of review: June 30, 2011
