In short: Wonderful scenery, amazing crew and well stocked pitstops..what more can I say! In full: Brilliant race for a first taste of ultra distance (fairly flat and not much tarmac at all). The crew were really supportive to those at the front and tha back of the pack. Will certainly be back ..but not before doing Xtreme NRG's Druid Challenge and Pilgrim Challenge too! Great race..VERY highly recommended. Date of review: September 24, 2013
In short: Very special race..Carlisle Castle, the Wall and then vibrant Newcastle..fantastic! In full: Amazing fun...lots of long flattish road sections mixed with gently undulating trail. A smattering of hills to keep it interesting ,,,and in myview, would be a great intro to ultra racing. The hot food at Vindolanda (overnight stop) was fantastic!Organisers were really encouraging to those towards the back and we had a really fab time overall. Even through the rain we were still smiling. Thanks guys! :) Date of review: August 7, 2013
In short: Would definitely repeat (if fit enough) :) Great race! In full: Fantastic race, wonderful scebery, amazingly friendly organisers and runners. The organisers were incredibly supportive, and really encouraging to those at the back! Did not realise just how tough the race would be, but the organisers really got me through. Thanks guys...wonderful time was had by all! :)
In full: Regular pitstops, good food, pretty Cotswold scenery.A couple of the (non-runner) organisers were impatient with the slower runners, offering lifts(!), and telling them when the fastest runner had reached the same checkpoint! I could continue..but will not...as I know that 90% of runners did have a fab time (and equally,90% of the organisers were encouraging). Felt peeved that some runners who were behind me had been given lifts to get closer to the end ..(to then finish before others) and that the sweeper had taken the final runner on a short route to cut in before us! (We all try to help each other so much ...but not like this. As a slower runner I will not do this run again. Date of review: August 7, 2013
In short: More ladies loos please!!!! In full: A lovely well organised race set in a charming Lincolnshire Spa town. My only gripes would be that it took some time tpo park (which rentrants could perhaps be warned about) and there was a seriosly insufficient number of ladies loos! (resulting in the discreet use of bushes by a number of ladies - wholly unwanted at the start of a race!).
More loos next year PLEASE !!!.... Date of review: September 26, 2009
