In short: big improvement In full: i have to say i only did this again to see if the organisers kept their promises after last years debacle. Parking was easy although paying £9 to park is a bit steep although being so close to race village meant I didnt have to bother with baggage tent as i kept it all in my car. Good enough course and definitely good for pb's as I knocked 38 mins off my last time! The support from the people of manchester was amazing as good as London easily they really made you feel great. Id definitely do it again in a few years time although it would be nice to incorporate both football clubs and some city centre into it but that may just complicate things re organisation Date of review: April 29, 2013

In short: amazing! In full: Really tough course but the scenery fantastic! The organisation was brilliant a lot of time and effort went into making this a success! Great communication from Phil organising a recce of part of the route beforehand great marshalls and water stations what a team! Definitely a must do for all abilities a very generous cut off time without a doubt the best marathon I've done with a sense of achievement at the end Date of review: March 11, 2013

In short: Well impressed In full: Great route great marshalls great hotpot and great goody bag what more can I say. Route is on roads that aren't closed but its quiet enough an area for that not to be a prob. Good communication from the team prior to race , enough wart we stations with rubbish bags after to throw the used bottles in although as usual not everyone complies only thing I'd suggest is just a couple more portaloos Date of review: January 20, 2013

In short: great run just id had more miles in my legs before doing it few more hill reps required me thinks In full: what a lovely run may even try doing this alone as training need to stop myself walking up the steep bits thought the wind on the way down was a bit unfair thats supposed to be the easy bit ;) Date of review: December 9, 2012

In short: Wow In full: Loved it! Although be prepared the coach journey to the start may be longer than you think! Was starting to amicable thinking I'd got on a marathon coach ! Lovely unique course I personally loved the wind kept me cool going through that thigh high water I was ruining how easy it would feel when I got out out not so ha ha talk about sapped energy but certainly a race to do in your life time Date of review: August 15, 2012

In short: Pleasant race In full: I really enjoyed this as I wasn't sure if my legs had recovered enough to do this distance following an ultra but the range of runners meant that although there were plenty in front there were still some behind and I could tackle it like a nice Sunday run with benefits of scenery n marshalls and water stops brilliant nice affordable race like they all are from this club wish I lived nearer to join em Date of review: August 7, 2012

In short: i loved it! In full: yes it was pricey but its a first time event. The amount of food on offer was excellent yep it may have been soup and a roll advertised (soup was awful)there were plenty of sandwiches chocolate cakes etc also would also have preferred some spaghetti to go with the bolgnese rather than a roll. The course was brilliant campsite ok showers well run cleaned after each use. would have preferred to have had the opportunity to test rat race beer on finishing not halfway when you have another days running ahead. Marshalls brilliant however a little countdown of last three miles wouldnt go a miss loved the bridge finish not sure why photographer wouldnt take a photo of me finishing though I know i looked rough but hey! So proud of myself and definitely one to do brilliant organisation would defo do another rat race challenge Date of review: June 27, 2012

In short: what a let down! In full: Route in fairness was good and you cant fault the organisers for the weather wow that was harsh! but from the start i was waved away from the parking (I had got there 7.20) with no directions for more car parking areas it was only on walking to the race I saw people parking in a car park round the corner. Not the best venue for starting but the Baggage what a nightmare My dry clothes were no longer dry as they had been thrown out into the mud Why oh why did this happen! It was a disgrace these a peoples property that have paid good money for race facilities and baggage was one of the advertised features. Peoples keys n clothes outside in the mud for all to root through is not good service I hope there will be an explanation Date of review: April 29, 2012
