In short: Excellent organisation with really scenic route - scrummy cakes
In full: Can't fault this race for anything to do with the scenery, organisation, cakes (mmmmhhh!), value or surfaces. Only down side was waiting for nearly 5 minutes to get through the stile near the start, but thats what you expect at the back of the field. Have recommended it to everyone at our club so there may be some more Basildonites there next year. I certainly plan to do it again. We both couldn't fault the whole event. Thanks to all those who stood in the storm at the end and were still so encouraging and to all the marshalls who were unfailingly cheerful.

In short: They said it was hard.... and they weren't lying!
In full: Excellent race, well organised with plenty of water stations, which would have been vital had it not been a touch damp at times. Pleanty of nibbles at most stations if you could stomach it. Well marked apart from one point where I went wrong, but looking at the track plenty of others had done as well. However that lost time meant I was over 3 hours, still there's always next year....
Many thnks to Rob and the marshalls for braving the rain and putting on this excellent race. I'm already thinking of how I'm going to train for the steps next year.

In short: Well marshalled / organised and excellent cakes!
In full: First time for this one, will recommend it to the rest of my club, good quality field, but I wasn't last! Nice to have hot showers a the end as well. Will aim to be back next year, congrats to the organisers, marshalls, cooks and tea ladies.

In short: 4th time and the best course for the half marathon yet
In full: Ran this for teh 4th time this year (2nd time for the marathon) thought the first half was much improved with the park earlier, then the university which was scenic, if a little hilly, and no hideous industrial estate at the end. Missing out the town centre was good, in previous years I've been avoiding shoppers just wandering out in front of me. Congrats to the motorcyclists at Home pierrepoint conveying drinks all the way around the rowing course for everyone and putting in a couple of impromptu drinks stations on the way out from the town. As always superbly organised and marshalled with loads of drinks especially on the 2nd half of the marathon course. It was really hot which made it more difficult, but plenty of marshalls and aid stations were comforting to see.
All it needs now is to reduce the distance around Holme Pierrre point and it will be excellent!
We will be travelling up from essex next year again. Well done

In short: Gorious scenery, superb marshalls and water stations shame about the hills!
In full: Did this as a taining run in preparation for an endurance race later this year. It showed up the holes in my current schedule! Some of the hills were hands on knees steep. Incredible that all the Kms were marked and there were direection arrows at all the junctions along with marshalls every where you could wish. Lots of congrats to the organisers for such a superb event. Boy was it tough in places though. Enjoyed it at the end and may well be back next year if the weather isn't too hot!

In short: This was so tough .. great scenery and superb marshalling though makes it worth while
In full: On the website it does say hilly, but that doesn't do it justice. The toughest race I've ever done, there didn't seem to be anything flat or even undulating woudlhave been nice. The marshalls and water stations were excellent and very supportive It was really good that the leaders passed you going the opposite way so you weren't lapped and could applaud them on. A great race, one that any who enjoys trails should do. The facilties at the start were excellent even if the showers were a tad cold by the time we finished!

In short: Well organised, scenic, but I though norfolk was flat!
In full: Normally I dread lap races, but this was excellent, couldn't see the finish line as we started the second lap, which was a bonus. if the wind had dropped the scenery would have been easier to enjoy. Good in that the hills are the first half of each lap so its relatively flat when you're really tired. the hand towel finishing prize was a nice touch.

In short: good race, but too hot this year for me to be comfortable
In full: well marshalled race were they try to keep traffic to a minimum. Good scenery for half the race, plenty of water stops which were needed this year as it was very hot especially onthe second lap.

In short: Lots of locals applauding is really good, well organised especially the motorcycle marshalls
In full: Did the half for the secong time, miles were definately out, but that didn't detract from the course which is pleasant and had various locals providing music and crowds applauding, helps the distance go less painfully. Definately a half to do, not a PB course (too hilly) but not slow enough to depress!
