In short: Great crowd, great day, great blisters! In full: As no doubt everyone will tell you, the crowd are exceptional all the way around the course...cheering your name and egging you to push yourself further than you thought possible.
The organisation was amazing and the volunteers from St John's and local kids groups was astounding too.
A great event if you aren't too fussed on times - the roads get packed with 36,000 runners on them - but you have to do it at least once in your life, and now I have. Date of review: April 26, 2010
In short: Great support and marshals, shame about the parking! In full: Not very beginner friendly, but how many beginners would dive straight into a 20 hilly race? Fantastic crowd support (the woman with the jelly babies at mile 19 was a life saver!) and the marshals seemed genuinely pleased to be involved. Car parking was a complete farce and the finish line felt a bit bolted-on. After running through glorious countryside for 19.5 miles it was a shame the last .5 was through a housing estate - still, a great experience and one I hope to repeat next year. Hopefully there'll be some timing chips by then Date of review: March 28, 2010
In short: Decent'ish scenery, flat and friendly. In full: Different surfaces including road, grass, underpasses, overpasses and even a few wooden bridges for good measure! I wasnt aware of any problems at the start, but then again I wasnt near the front. I know when the medals were presented they apologised for the confusion so maybe something to learn for next year. My first ever HM and very beginner friendly. Date of review: July 26, 2009
In short: First ever race - and happy to go back next year! In full: This was my first ever race so I had no idea what to expect. I now know that "undulating" means hilly! Started through a housing estate and then out on to open coutryside and winding country roads - very picturesque. Incredibly friendly marhall's and a nice atmosphere among the runners. Defo going to go back next year. Date of review: April 20, 2009
