In short: muddy dash around glorious tatton park
In full: Organisation was fantastic for this small event. Unfortunately the rain over the last week or so left a lot of the course in a muddy state and was slippy underfoot in parts, however there was no problems in running around these boggy patches, it just meant you ran a little further than the 15k. Great warm up at the beginning and DJ Dave was providing the entertainment. The race is run for a great cause, however i did wonder where my entry fee went considering there were no road closures to pay for. I was told to try and raise funds for the stroke association as my entry fee only covered organising the event but with just over 300 runners,im sure it didn't cost £4500 to organise, maybe it did,but that sounds a little steep to me.
Nevertheless, this is a decent little race with fantastic volunteers on a cold morning which turned to hailstone!A beautiful location to run in, thankyou to all involved

In short: Too crowded but support FANTASTIC!!!!
In full: 2012 review: Way too crowded to get any speed up and for me way too many walking the course! I know its a big charity event but its also meant to be a run. The support is fantastic though with homemade biscuits, chocolates, pizza, fruit and sweets being handed out and everybody wanting to high five you. I must say though that anyone who trains on any mild undulating hills wont find this course challenging at all, the hills really aren't bad at all in my opinion and i dont train on mountains! All in all not a race to enjoy if u want a time but if u want a great atmosphere there's nothing better. I wouldnt do it again simply for the fact that the travelling is a pain and if you choose to stay over it van become quite an expensive weekend. thankyou for the memories Newcastle and South shields

In short: scenic 5 miler with good support
In full: the start of the race was something of a farce with it being delayed half an hour, down to most people paying on the day. The sign posts around sefton were non existent, it's quite a big park and there were a few runners who didnt have a clue where the start was and i personally thought £10(on the day price) was quite steep for just a mug in a race in which no roads needed closing. They are the bad points and they're not too bad really, the race itself was well supported with a good mix of runners and the course itself had quite a bit of support. The marshalls were fantastic and some of the friendliest and most supportive i've seen,so full credit to them.

In short: challenging, friendly, well organised, terrible memento
In full: not hilly, but slightly tougher than an undulating course. Very easy to find, very friendly and for all abilities. Course itself besides the park start and finish is quite dull but the marshalls were very friendly and supportive. My only major gripe was the socks as a memento, yes its a change from t shirts and medals but theyre not even running socks, you get 5 pairs for a fiver on the market lol. It just makes you wonder afterwards were your entry fee went, you dont mind if most goes to a charity but didnt notice one mentioned.

Nothing serious about this event, its simply fun for all the family for a very good cause.Hope to see it back next yr with more people supporting it. Thankyou

In short: RONSEAL- DID WHAT IT SAID ON THE TIN :)
In full: Mark made promises about the race and he delivered. Big thankyou to the organisers and volunteers who made this race so special. Bargain price, excellent organisation and i hope this race sells out next year. I came from Bolton to run this race, people of Liverpool who didn't turn up,hang your heads in shame, this race was excellent and you missed a gem :)

In short: toughest half ive ever done but scenery is beautiful
In full: i run this with my mate who unfortunately hadnt trained very much and it showed. Didnt help matters when we started 5 mins late and took us til 2 miles to catch the back marker. By 8 miles he was finished after taking on the hills and it spoiled my race. However the scenery i got chance to take in were simply stunning. The race begins with a steep 3 mile incline before dropping down half a mile and then by mile 4 you had reached the top and you sweep down 3 miles. This part of the course is beautiful running through the countryside with the sheep literally at the side of you.The support is as expected very thin as you are running in the middle of nowhere but the runners were friendly enough. You finish in the beautiful setting of the pavilion gardens and as i said by the time we'd finished most of the support had thinned out,i imagine it wouldve been wuite good for most of the other runners. This race is certainly a challenge and should not be tried as your first half! thoroughly enjoying though, thankyou Buxton, i'll be back next yr :)

In short: ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!
In full: I've never complained about a race before but im afraid i have to do with this one. I did the legacy event in bolton 2 weeks ago and that was alright but this was a joke! i entered the 5k and entered my 3 yr old in the fun run. Main race starts at 10 and fun run at 11(or so the website would have you believe) We was told we had to start at the same time!! so after 14mins of running 2km with my 3 yr old i then had to run another 3 quarters of a km to rejoin the 5k race by this point i was nearly at the back!! at the finish we got another cheap t shirt, identical to the one i got in bolton( i imagine all the legacy event race t shirts are going to be the same so no point in doing them all) . Not quite sure where my £10 went then. Then when i finally finished the 5km( or more like 6km with the fun run) i found out that the fun runners (my 3yr old) werent getting medals as promised and advertised but simply a small mens t shirt!!! Ive had to complain about all this and dont know if anything will come of it,but the thing was a joke.

In full: i only did the 5k as i was running the fun run with my 3 yr old. It turned out to be a decent race as well. Some of the trails were quite wet but thats not the organisers fault lol. Ample car parking space(free) on the reebok and a warm up inside the premier suite for anyone interested and there seemed to be a really good family atmosphere inside even though some top runners were in attendance. Along with the runners were Bolton Wanderers players and the kids had the opportunity to meet lofty the lion :)Bit disappointed to see just 400 runners turn up at a location which is very easy accesible, i put that down to lack of advertisement around the town, maybe fliers and posters couldve been put up around Bolton in food outlets like subway. Also i never saw any advertising in the Bolton News which was disappointing. A lot of the volunteers didnt actually know where the 5k ended or where the kids race started so there were a few problems there but nothing major and im sure they'll be ironed out for next yr but hopefully the organisers will advertise the race better next yr.

In short: excellent race in the sun
In full: first time of doing this run and it really is a very good race. Excellent organisation and a very nice place to finish were you can meet family/friends and stay around for a while after the race. Transport back to the finish for free if you needed it and there was free refreshments at the finish( tea, coffee, orange, hot x buns and toast!!) This really is a good race which seems very popular with all abilities catered for. Will be back next year, hopefully it will be slightly milder
