In short: Good race, poor organisation In full: We all know the Abbey Dash course, pretty flat, but of undulation at the Abbey end and up the ramp and up the Headrow at the end. It's a nice flat course and a significant road to run down if you live in Leeds and especially the Aireborough area. But I have to say that the organisation left a lot to be desired, from the off the race info stated that Wooshouse Lane Multi Storey car park would be open early morning, but on passing I saw that it wasn't, OK for me as I'm local and wasn't planning on parking there anyway but would imagine that people from out of town might have been thrown by it. Arrived at the start, and I'm in the 35 min start pen apparently, why I don't know as I'd put my estimated finish time down as 48 mins. Race itself was OK, granted there are lots of people on the course but I didn't think it was overly congested, fairly straight wide roads, even the turnaround was OK. Only bit of congestion was at the top of the ramp at the bottom of the Headrow which put the kybosh on any plans for a storming finish. Finish itself was a shambles, appeared to be staffed by six people. No announcements to remove chips (this is the only race I've done in the last year to still use them) but no apparent cause for the congestion other than pure volume of people trying to get out. A good race for a good cause but does need sorting out, maybe move the distribution of tshirts and drinks out up to millenium square as per the Tomlinson 10K Date of review: November 19, 2012

In short: The usual RunLiverpool race In full: As ever well organised, maybe a little over-run with entrants, but nothing too bad. Good fast course, didn't miss running up the steps out of the Aigburth Road underpass this year. Date of review: March 28, 2011

In short: The usual Bradford 10K In full: As ever it was well organised, although I have to agree that the finish was a bit lax in it's organisation. Plenty of room at the start, timed pens were new for this year. Numbers seemed to be up this too which was good. All in all a top race in my home city. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Fast, flat, well organised! In full: Considering that over 6000 people took part it was very well organised. I suspect that a lot of people had read the comments about the start on here from last year and got down to the front pretty quickly. Wasn't much of an issue with slower runners at the front. Course is what it is, out along Kirkstall Road and back. Overall well organised and pretty fast and flat, sorted me out with a PB. Date of review: November 21, 2010

In short: Good race, nice people. In full: Not a huge fan of two lap courses but this is inoffensive enough, as said there was plenty of support out all around the course. Good mix of runners, good clubbers, first timers and underachievers like me! Did it last year, did it this, will probably do it next. Date of review: August 9, 2010

In short: Tougher than you think In full: I didn't enjoy myself, but that was my fault rather than the race's. As other people have said, lots of marshalls for support and encouragement. The course was a little uninspiring, the leafy suburbs of town are nice enough but with the twists and turns it became disorientating. OK yes it was warm too, have to question the wisdom of handing out water in cups at the end of the first lap when you had to try and drink them running uphill (might have been better to give the bottles out mid race and save the cups for the finish?)But all in all a nice friendly race over a challenging course in a lovely town. In short: Great race, another run liverpool triumph In full: My first time through the tunnel and a very enjoyable experience,as other people have said the rent-a-goon marshalls out on the course all appeared to on a 'roid comedown, a little support on the Dock road would have been nice. But all in all a cracking race and a credit to the organisers. Date of review: May 31, 2010

In short: Could be better, could be worse. In full: A bit like my performance yesterday, some positives and some negatives pretty much cancel each other out. My main beef is that the course around the ring road and Kirkstall Road is just way too narrow, OK it's a main road, but it's really off putting to have cars speeding past when you've basically got two people's widths to run in. Throw in to that the last two drinks stations with all the mess strewn on the road and it's positively dangerous (in my opinion). Goody bag of a decent Tshirt, nice medal, Starburst and some jelly bean sweeties was OK. Cadets filling cups of water from a bin at the finish was, I hope a plan B, but I suspect not. Someone mentioned getting their time texted to them, I've had nothing, nothing online either. But then again it's Leeds council, they can't even arrange to empty our bins. All in all, OK, course a little more challenging than most but could do with better organising. Date of review: May 10, 2010

In short: Good route, good organisation, good race! In full: I managed to get there on time without too much trouble, the start was a little hemmed in, but then again the prom wasn't all that wide so what could you do? First mile was a bit grim, dingy backstreets with derelict buildings and all that, after that though, nice residential areas and lovely parkland. As mentioned the last three on the prom were tough because of the wind, but again, what can you do about it? Narrowness came in to play at the end again, bit of a crush for the very nice tshirts and medals, handed out by charming cadets (the rent-a-goons out on the course should take note). Straight out of the car park afterwards and home. Thanks for organising a great race Alan, I'll be back for the Tunnel 10K and probably again next year. Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: Great race, just a few minor tweaks needed. In full: As ever a great race, as everyone says, yes the scenery isn't great, but if you drive down Canal Road twice a day then running up and down it in the middle of the road is great in itself. The Tshirt could do with updating, yes, but that's not really that important is it? As Bradford courses go, I couldn't think of a flatter one, but there are certainly a few inclines, it's not Tomlinson 10K or Abbey Dash flat but it's pretty good. Drinks station wasn't the best organised in the world and the goody bags weren't very forthcoming. Turn out was a little disappointing, I didn't see as many club vests this year as I have in the past. Let's try and boost numbers for next year, enter before the end of April and there's 10% off. All in all, cracking race, especially if you're local. Date of review: March 22, 2010
