In short: it hurts but it's worth it!
In full: Smashing race, really good fun especially if you're not used to this type of terrain - I've not done this type of running before and found the extra challenge of the surface entertaining. Only downside to this bumpy underfoot was that you couldn't spend as long looking at the amazing views!

In short: Some very entertaining bits!
In full: The downhills through the woods have to be some of the most entertaining bits of race I've ever done! We were very fortunate with the weather this year, I suspect had it had been raining it would have been an entirely different prospect in terms of difficulty. Course was varied and event as a whole very good!

In short: Smashing race except last kilometre
In full: I do this race most years and think that it's a tough but very satisfying run and the fact that it's attached to the show makes it a great day out. My only criticism would be that the last km goes through Penistone without any apparent traffic control, so the last km is a bit scary, I've seen some very close shaves between car and pedestrian on this run! In this section some busy side roads emerge into the path of the runners and the pavement where the runners are expected to run is too narrow in parts to pass other runners without veering onto the busy main road. All of this is just the last km, the rest of the run is great with some fantastic scenery and enthusiastic marshalls.

In short: Considering there were no entries on the day, so they knew more or less how many people would be doing the race, to run out of water supplies at the 5k water station by mid pack was pathetic.
