In short: Flat course, very well organized with some really good extras
In full: Good run, very flat, with some nice sections along the river but some less attractive sections in car parks. A nice mix of runners from very fast to non runners. The after lunch brunch was great (free), the goodie bag top quality with a really nice running shirt inside. Personally surprised it's not rated higher. I'll definitely do it again.

In short: Friendly, well organized, scenic half
In full: The course was great for those wanting a PB but with the occasional little railway bridge. Nice countryside and really good support. A really well organized event - the organizers really seemed to take in the few grumbles from last year's runners - water and fruit as you cross the line, nice medal - I didn't think the toilet queues were so bad. The one grumble I have (which makes me think my rating might be generous) is they had someone calling times at half way but not at the end. And no clock at the end. Maybe that's normal but it seemed strange to finish and not have an idea of my finish time. Apart from that it was great.

In short: real family event - tough course
In full: A lot of effort was put into this event, a bit of a carnival atmosphere, barbecue, got a 10 minute massage for a fiver at the end, so a lot of nice touches. Lots of activities for kids too. The support along the route was great - and photographers from the local school were placed along the route - the photos will apparently be free online which is nice.

The race started at 11 o clock, and with the hills this made it really difficult as the sun was high in the sky - although there were quite a lot of shady wooded sections.

This is definitely a race I'd do again but the tip of the day is don't go there aiming at a PB. If you go for a good welcome, somewhere you can bring the kids (there is even a 2k fun run for them)and some really nice scenery - you won't be disappointed.

In short: Well organized, good venue
In full: I enjoyed this race. It was flat and quite scenic. The weather was sadly very grim otherwise I'm sure the scenery would have looked stunning. The one fault I'd mention is very narrow canalside paths with no barriers. A bit scary and not easy to overtake for long stretches. Still, it was a good race and there were even nice warm showers afterwards (and signing in was indoors, which considering the weather was a lifesaver). Overall I'd definitely recommend this one.
