In short: Perfect VLM preparation
In full: The sun shone, the marshals were great, the course was quick, the crowds were abundant and cheered, the organisation was excellent, the medal was great, prizes for lots of categories and it attracted a good field of runners from sub 70 minute runners to get round beginners. Will definitely be back and an excellent day out

In short: Big City atmosphere
In full: I entered this as a build up race to VLM and a chance to realign my HM PB on the promise it was a quick course. Registration was easy although, as a member of a HM organising committee myself, I am aware of the costs involved in hosting such events and thought the cost expensive but on arrival you can see from the facilities that no corners have been cut and the costs are there for all to see - lots of toilets, a well set up race village, hire of the stadium, pre race literature, road closures etc etc. So although quite steep in price, I think it's good value.

The course itself is OK - nothing to write home about. You do go through the centre but it can't be for more than a mile at tops then it's back out into dulls-ville.

fair play to allt he marshals and spectators coming out in the horrendous conditions. Fair play to you and thank you.

The finish in the stadium is a nice touch. The goody bag was really good I thought - some lovely treats inside to help get some much needed fuel back into the system! Easy exit to the bag drop, easy pick up and having the car park (i was in Blue) away from the stadium, made for an easy exit back on to the motorway.

Overall, well organised, has a big city/event feel to it and a course for hunting down that PB. Would I do it again? Maybe. there are lots of other races like this in the UK and there wasn't anything really standout but a good race for the lead up to VLM.

In short: Fast PB course
In full: Much much improved from the inaugural race last year. The rerouted course I thought worked well - although you run the same section twice, it doesn't quite feel like a 'lap'. As a front runner, I can't comment on the underpass bottleneck but cannot forsee how else they can safely deal with having to cross the busy Bath Road (A4).

The course is quick and flat and scenery on the route, although not breathtaking, is better than most. Marshalls were fantastic and supportive along the whole course and there was much more public support this year too.

Lack of goody bag and the same medal as last year (with different date) was a bit disappointing for the fee but guess most of it was spent on the road closures which were well organised and marshalled.

In short: I do like to be besides the seaside....
In full: ...especially when organised like this.

Lovely scenic route, really well organised by the Thanet Roadrunners. The marshalls thorughout the course were fantastic so thanks to them.

Water distributed at decent intervals and in bottles too which was great.

The course itself was challenging. The hills on the return leg of the out and back course drained the legs. One big plus of the out and back course is seeing the competitors running against you and the great support they gave.

Finishers goody bag was great and as someone else has said, can't go wrong with an energy drink, nice medal and tech tshirt.

Would definitely consider doing this again. Well done Thanet Roadrunners

In short: Well organised Half
In full: As above, a well organised half by the Dartford Harriers. Course is more than undulating in my opinion and was made wuite tough at times by the hot weather.

Marshalls were friendly and encouraging but like other have said, could do with another water stop in the second half. Lovely medal at end and enjoyed the finish on the athletics track. Would I do it again? Yes due to the great and smooth organisation

In short: Lots of potential
In full: Inaugural Maidenhead HM has lots of promise if issues at the start can be ironed out. Course is realtively flat but there is some rough off road and steps (!) which stops me grading it as top marks on PB potential. Good marshalls and logistics of road closures well handled. Disappointing 'goody bag' as there wasn't one - just a medal and a banana at end. Sure this will improve with time

In short: Well organised club race
In full: First time running here for me in beautiful village of hook norton. Good sized event - not too big not too small. Obv a fixture on a few club schedules this year. Undulating course both rural roads and village. well organised and a nice race

In short: Excellent from arrival to the hobble home
In full: This is a fantastically organised race by the Tunbridge Wells Harriers.

From the easy online registration to the clear and informative race pack received in advance of the day, no stone is left unturned so you can focus on turning up and running.

The race HQ is well equipped - changing rooms, plenty of toilets, lots of space to warm up and get ready, free bag drop and lots of clear signage!

The race itself is tough - nice and scenic for the first 5-6 miles before hitting the infamous Spring Hill, which truly saps the legs. If i was a fan of gels, then I'm sure the free Gel table at the top of the hill would be welcomed! Lots of spectators on the route offering support and encouragement as well as free jelly babies too.

Special mention must go the marshalls. Clear instructions, always a smiling face and lots of clapping and support - just what you need when your legs are shot!

Post race is great too. After receiving your medal from Dame Kelly Holmes, you receive possibly the best finishing bag Ive ever seen. Lots of perfect post race fodder, technical tshirt, water and gels and a fantastic medal.

a challenging course, amazing supporters, first class organisation - races dont get better than this.
