In short: Fantastic race, great scenary and very well organised
In full: I wasn't sure what to expect from this race, but what a delight.

The scenary was fantasic, great facilities and very friendly and efficient organisation. Well done to all involved.

The run itself was a bit of a challenge. The first 1k+ was all up, although not too steep. It then seemed to be down or flat to about 5k. At around 6k there was what I can only describe as a monster incline for another 1 - 1.5k. Then it settled down again. The last 500 yards are a steep up, but you know you are home and dry by then.

Coffee and cake (which was superb) for all finishers.

This is a great way to spend a Sunday morning. See you next year.

In short: Hard and truely rewarding
In full: This is a fairly hard race I would say. The first 4k are all up hill, and this year we had the wind against us just to make it a little harder still. From the 4k mark onwards its all down or flat. A chance to get some time back. The folk of Holymoorside are great at chearing you on towards the end. Great race, well organised, fantastic views. I will certainly be back next year for more.

In short: Wind made this far more difficult
In full: I previously did this run in 2002 and 1999.

Today was made more difficult as large parts of the race were into a headwind, yet we never seemed to get the benefit of a tail wind.

Its a nice enough run, but I have just a couple of not so serious observations:

a) Its a working country park, you have to run around people that are enjoying themselves. Not so easy at all times.
b) Very poor in terms of encouragement from the sides.
c) Value is not really that great, you have to pay £3.50 to park the car for a couple of hours on top of the entry fee.
d) Could have done with the option of juice at the end rather than simply water.

The real positive for me was that the run was due to take place a few weeks ago, when the snow came. Other organizers cancelled their events at this time, but Sheffield re-arranged. Many thanks.

I probably will come back, but maybe not next year.

In short: Great race, very well organised.
In full: It was the third year for me. Its a great race to take part in, no traffic and great organisation with well supportive marshals. There are a couple of inclines, but nothing that should hurt too much. Will be back next year - many thanks Notts Athletics!

In short: Well organised, challangeing run
In full: Clowne Road Runners do a super job of organising this (and their other events). There's good parking, its very well marshaled, there's the offer of jelly beans at around 10 miles, and when you finish there's biscuits, flapjack and power drinks.

The course itself is a challenge, the wind hinders at times and helps at others. From my point of view hitting the wind at around 11 miles hurt!! Scenery was great.

I did the run in 1994, so its been awhile for me. I'll put it in the calendar for next year though.

Very well done to everyone involved.

In short: Wel organised, great scenary, all in all a great way to spend a couple of hours
In full: A well organised race through the Sherwood Pines trails. Very scenic, although after awhile a bunch of trees looks just like the last lot.

The first 3-4 kilometers seemed reasonably flat and down hill and I had my hopes up for a good time. They were dealt a cruel blow as the ups slipped in. Not severe by any means, but hard work to keep going at a good pace.

Water stations were well placed and a great t-shirt for completing it. I am likely to come back next year.

My only grump is £4 to park my car. But okay, yes I acknowledge I am contributing to the upkeep.

Well done to all.

In short: Good race - will aim to come back next year
In full: Scenery was not too good - but ok. The start was a little steep but there were a few downhills to make up for it around the course.

I enjoyed this and will certainly come back next year.

My one bit of feedback is that rather than a bottle of water at the 5k mark I would have preferred a cup of water at that point and the bottle at the end.

Shame the gala day was cancelled. But I do recommend the race.

In short: A super scenic and fairly fast race
In full: I thought this was a super race. The first 1k was up (but not steep) and following that it was flat all the way round.

The only thing likely to stop you getting a PB is that the towpath is narrow in places and sometimes you find yourself waiting for an opportunity to pass someone. But who cares, just take a breather and enjoy the scenary.

I'll be back next year.

In short: Tough start with a very fast middle and end
In full: The organisers warned the first 2.5k was up hill. I have to confess it seemed nearer 4k to me and it was a hard start.

Once you hit the 4k mark it's all down or flat, so you have some chance of getting back time lost at the start.

The scenary was absolutely superb. The race deserves top marks.

My only criticism is that there didn't seem to be a clock at the end. I ended up having to wait for the results to be published on the website before I knew how well (or not) I did.

But top marks, see you next year.
