In short: If only all races were like the Ox Marathon - fantastic event In full: OK, maybe I don't need hills where you need to be tough as an Ox on every race I do but if they were all as friendly and well organised as the Ox Marathon was the world would be a better place!
This was my first White Star Running event and it lived up to all my expectations. The course was well marked with regular, cheerful, marshal stations with choice of drinks, real food and the Lovestation at mile 20 with cider and peach rum was a picnic to behold.
The course was absolutely beautiful. If you don't mind a hill or few then you'll love this. The views were amazing, the countryside beautiful. Ran through yellow rape seed fields, through woodland, along ridges, into farms, it was a lovely day out.
The bling was great, tech T shirt was great. My wife did the Ox Light on the Saturday as her first trail race and loved every minute of it too.
We camped for the weekend which was a whole load of fun and added to the feeling of being part of a lovely, atmospheric weekend. I'm already booked up for the Bad Cow Saturday marathon in August, can't wait! Big thanks to the whole WSR team, you put on a brilliant thing! Date of review: May 25, 2016
In short: A lovely race in the Kent countryside In full: Had a brilliant morning - my first organised run in 4 years (apart from recent parkruns) and I really hope that I can get back again for it next year. Paid online, race number came in the post a few days later, parking was great, EVERY marshal was friendly and helpful. Chip timers easy to pick up, toilet facilities, and of course started off by Dame Kelly Holmes, who also awarded the finishing medals to everyone. The course itself was scenic, through a little woodland, roads. Hilly (but hey, as well as going up they went down too). Brilliantly organised event for range of runners at different speeds.
