In full: The highlight of the route is the two scenic parks at either end. Organisation and signposting was excellent and I liked running through the city with antagonised drivers seething behind road blockades.
The route is pretty "up and down" but not particularly strenuous - there is enough downhill to really run a quick time. Date of review: October 18, 2009

In short: Perfect weather makes for good times In full: It is a tough off-road race which seems to epitomise Yorkshire and if you take the time to learn the course you willbe rewarded. It doesn't feel like a marathon because it is easily divided into small varying sections.
There is evrything you could want from a multi-terrain race from bleak, exposed moors to running over a viaduct and idealic countryside footpaths. Really great experience which was helped by good conditions underfoot and excellent organisation. If you want a challenge - I reccomend it - I don't think anything crossed my mind the whole race except for remembering the route and checking underfoot for hazards - It's tough but well worth it!

In short: Can only speak from my own experience In full: There is a lot of negativity but personally this was my first marathon and it was a brilliant experience for me because I ran well with a big negative split and enjoyed sprinting the last few miles. The finsih in the stadium was absolutely brilliant, felt like an Olympian - the support was fantastic here and very good all day. Water points were fine for me, stayed well hydrated - and there was no delay after the finish for me, maybe becuase I was so quick. Peace. The highlight was seeing how suicidily qucik people went in the first half with the heat; every time someone went past me as I cruised along I thought, see you in ten miles... when I'll be going past you.
