In short: Cracking trail race with good facilities, reasonably quick and not too challenging

In short: Cracking event with stunning views over Wharfedale and slick organisation
In full: Quite a tough race, despite being a C class fell race some of the climbs were pretty harsh and some pretty rocky sections as well. Scenery is spectacular and would be worth running as a training run just for that. Organisation was excellent and well thought out, and the facilities at the rugby club were pretty good too.

I managed a 2nd place prize as well just to top my day off so I'm on cloud nine for the near future.

I would heartily recommend this race for anyone with an interest in the beautiful Yorkshire dales. Good T-shirt as well, plus a gel in the goody bag (bit puzzled by the box of shredded wheat though). Great value for £15

In short: Nice mixed terrain 10k with a few punishing hills
In full: Fairly scenic course through Esholt woods with a shortish road section through Esholt village. Not an easy 10k but very good fun, last 2k contains 2 steep climbs with a cruel one all the way up towards the finish. Well organised, course well marked with km markers sprayed on the trail floor which I thought was a good idea. Also a bottle of specially brewed guiseley gallop beer for all finishers which was a nice touch

In short: Cracking event and well worth doing
In full: Tough course with around 1000-1200 ft of climbing (and descending) but excellent scenery and a great atmosphere. Slightly spoiled by a cock up on the finish line meaning I lost 2 places (mainly due to a numberless runner trying to run through the finish line) but otherwise a very good race.

In short: Fairly flat fast course, although a fairly boring route
In full: The abbey dash is spot on for getting a PB (provided you save enough for the short but taxing hill in the last 1/4 mile) and is generally a very fast course out of Leeds to the Abbey and back. The route is mainly straight along one of the main routes into Leeds and as a result is pretty boring, even with the abbey at the halfway point, and the lack of terrain changes or hills can make it a bit monotonous. That said, I've done it 2 years in a row and will do it again next year, for pushing it hard I don't know of a better 10k.

In short: Tough hilly race set in great scenery and perfectly organised
In full: One of my favourite races, the course is a real toughie with around 1300ft of climbing including at 2-3 very steep hills which are real leg burners. The atmosphere is possibly the best in any race I have ever run, the marshalls are all top notch and very helpful and the organisation is second to none. There's also a fun aspect to this race with the bloke dressed as guy fawkes starting the race on his pushbike every year. Goody bag at the end is always full of loads of chocolate and sweets which is most welcome and you get a long sleeved T shirt as well. Highly recommended

In short: Good trail race again just like last year
In full: Enjoyed it a lot this year and randomly managed to gain a PB even on a tough course. Bit of everything here, quite hilly and a nice mix of trails, fields and farm tracks.

In short: Fab race with a great atmosphere and a brilliant goody bag at the end. Couple of killer hills, and this year the roads were flooded which was fun. Plus Ripley is a lovely place. Full marks

In short: nice well marshalled trail race
In full: Not too muddy dispite raining the night before, although there was one boggy section. Quite a steep start to the course and then downhill on the way back. I enjoyed it, even though I was out of sorts and forgot my inhaler (so had to walk 1k). Lots of friendly runners were in evidence and overall a good route, just go steady on the first hill, it looks as though it's a short steep section but it actually goes on for some time so it's easy to overdo it.
