In short: Brilliant event... again! In full: Having done the half and full marathons at Chester last year, I had high expectations - which were met. The event organisers are really making a name for themselves now - other events take note, this is how things should be done.
The course is undulating but mostly the climbs are short and not too challenging (though the one just before you hit the 13th mile is a bit mean! Haha).
The event is well supported and the marshals/volunteers deserve special thanks.

In short: One word: superb In full: Excellent event: well organised, friendly marshals, great crowds, nice scenic route... apart from a few challenging hills it was the perfect day! ;-) My first marathon, and would 100% recommend it to other 'first timers'. Superb. Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: Good route, well organised, great atmosphere In full: I really enjoyed this race. The first mile was a little congested, but other than that everything went like clockwork... the short hill at 12 miles was hard work though!
Lots of vocal support throughout the course, great volunteers and the 'final straight' has to be one of my favourite finishes ever!
Nice t-shirt and medal too, and the Mars bar at the end was much appreciated!
Would definitely recommend this to other runners. Excellent event. Date of review: May 14, 2012

In short: Very enjoyable... but could be better. In full: Firstly, I must say that I actually really enjoyed this run, got a PB and would definitely recommend it to somebody after a quick time.
However there is a but...
The problems with the signs being switched (maliciously) caused real problems for the front runners and to be honest the signs generally weren't clear enough for an open road event. It's also not really the best event if you are a 'fun' runner or not particularly fast, to use the RW descriptions above it was a "bit clubby". There was also a clear lack of marshals and water. It was a cheap run, so it's hard to be over critical but a marshal at some of the key junctions would have really helped. I must say though that I thought the marshals present were all excellent.
Again, I would like to reiterate that on a personal level, I really enjoyed the event and had a very good day, but with a few minor tweaks this could be a 'must do' event. Date of review: February 20, 2012
