In full: Wow...What an event! Superb atmosphere and massive local support. Oranges , bananas, and all sorts of fruit and that was just a few of the people dressed in fancy dress that passed me by on the course!! The final insult was the dalmation that passed me in the home straight - tail wagging in the sea breeze as if to wave goodbye to me! Organisation was superb and very friendly all round. Not for the feint hearted as the hill climbs for the first half is serious stuff. I decided to avoid looking at my gps watch until the half way point as I knew I would not be ahead of my usual pace. In fact I spent more time looking behind me to see if someone was dragging out of my shorts such was the pull of the hills! The final two mile run along the sea front seems to go on forever but the rows of support on the run in lifted my spirits to enable a spirited sprint finish. Great job by the organisers and I will be back next year. The Gym Reaper...Run for your lives! Date of review: March 23, 2011

In short: Great event and well organised but with one serious gripe! See longer review! In full: Treadmill is treadmill - choose your own speed and get as far as you can. However on the bike it appears the higher the level you choose the further you get per revolution. This was not mentioned. I assumed (wrongly) that everyone would cycle at level 1 (why would i make things more difficult by increasing the resistance). However my 25 minutes of sprint pedalling was worth far less than someone on a higher level pedalling at a slower speed! This meant I was way down the field despite all my effort! Not bitter at all.....! Can't wait for the next one. Harsh lesson learned. Date of review: January 17, 2011

In full: First off road race and what a pleasure. Loved the wonderful mix of terrain, scenery and weather conditions. Very friendly competitors and well organised by the marshalls. And yes some of the route was unclear but that added to the adventure. Will be back to do the race again and many thanks to the Dunstable club for putting on a superb event.
