In short: One of the best 10k races in the UK
In full: Crikey, do Yorkshire folk know how to organise a seriously good 10k or what? First time I've done Salford but it's right up there with Dewsbury, Leeds and Trafford if you're looking for a very well organised, very fast race. I'll definitely be back when I'm in better shape as this course has got PB written all over it. Congrats to Salford Harriers for putting on a great event and thanks to all the marshalls for doing such a fine job.

In short: Has a better reputation than it deserves
In full: I've done this race twice, '08 and '12.

It's not that quick
- as others have mentioned there are plenty of courses out there that are quicker.

It's not that accurate
- a common gripe from GPS wearers is that a particular course is short, long etc etc. Bottom line is that everyone on connect.garmin has this race as long by ~100-300m. I've no doubt the course was accurately measured, I just think that there's no way to run the "racing line" owing to the fact that the course is divided on the second lap.

It's not that cheap
- in fact, it's not cheap at all, the only reason I did it this year is because I could get a free entry because I'm an old git. Absolutely astonishing that any half in the UK could charge roughly 10 quid more than the London marathon. Is it really more expensive to put a 1/2M on in Bath than it is to put on a marathon in London???

It's not that well marked
- maybe I'm blind, but the only mile markers I saw were 3M, 10M and 11M, hardly ideal, unless you're wearing a GPS, in which case you're bugg3rd in any case (see above).

Other than that, great race, see you all next year, providing I can get a free entry ;-)

In short: An event of two halves
In full: The good: Lightning fast, well-marshalled course. With good conditions, this has to be one of the best chances of a PB.

The bad: The results are wrong. Times appear to be 13-14 sec faster than were run on the day. Furthermore, the race does not have a UKA licence, so even if you run a PB, your time will not appear on Power of Ten.

The ugly: Despite the race being one of the more expensive 10k races around the goody-bag was very poor, no race t-shirt and (a personal gripe) there were no prizes for vets.

In short: Awesome race.....again!!!!
In full: Can only think that the previous poster (payless) was at a different race from the one I attended today. We were blessed with superb conditions, dry, good footing and very few slick areas even through Shining Cliff Woods, which is a notorious location for tricky running. Brilliant marshalling, an abundance of jelly babies and cracking weather made for one of the best long runs I've completed in 2010.

Superbly well done to the organisers once again. I'm a road runner/racer, but this event keeps me coming back for more.

Great having racekit.co.uk sponsor the prizes this year as they were superb and very generous.

Love it to bits.

In short: Fast, very well organised PB race
In full: Superb event, very professionally put together by Dewsbury Road Runners. Excellent marshalling, accurate distance markers, very quick course and good depth makes this one of the top 10k races in the country for those chasing a PB.

In short: Without a doubt, one of the best 10k races in the country.
In full: Absolutely superb race. Faultless organisation, excellent marshalling, km markers in exactly the right places, flat, fast, no tight turns and good depth in the field make for one of the best PB opportunities in the UK race calendar.

Hats off to Dave Norman and Altrincham & District AC for putting on a brilliant race. I'll definitely be back.

In short: Absolutely superb race
In full: Beautiful, 2 lap course round very attractive woodland coupled with silky-smooth organisation and marshalling made for an outstanding race. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Burnham Joggers - well worth the trip from Notts ;-)

In short: Fantastic run!
In full: C'mon Rich, you know you loved it. Without question, one of my favourite (largely) off-road races on the calendar. Great marshalling, very well marked, excellent aid stations (Jelly Babies at everyone!) and an interesting route that manages to include a bit of everything (trail, grass, path, road, woods, hills, flat bits etc) makes for a superb day out. A huge thank you and very well done to the organisers once again. My third time and I'll definitely be back.

In short: Excellent, well organised race
In full: A big thanks to the organisers and marshalls for putting on an excellent race. The multiple water stations were a life-saver yesterday and very much appreciated. Excellent, generous prizes and a super atmosphere makes for a great morning out. Definitely potential for a quick run if the weather complies - a bit too warm for me this year ;-)
