In short: Excellent event - great if you're local and worth the trip if you're not. In full: Smooth as clockwork organisation -- lots of helpers in every department. Water and sponges en route; water, snack bars and Red Bull at finish. Fun run for the youngsters. Even has a good number of spot prizes at the finish (and a medal for all). Getting a PB was the icing on the cake :-) Date of review: August 5, 2010

In short: Great finish, good crowds - but let down by too many participants for the width of the course In full: My 2nd half, after Royal Parks. Obviously not as scenic (Reading doesn't have either the tourist sights of London, nor the big parks), but half the price. 12,300 entries made for congestion not just at start (2B expected) but all the way through, certainly for middling performers. See photos and finish-line vids at marathon-photos.com to see what I mean. Pace-makers with flags v.good. Masochistic landlord tempting you with free beer at 7m just b4 a hill. Believe the mile-markers, not the sight of the Mad.Stad. coming into view or the last 3miles will demoralise you. Finishing in the Mad.Stad excellent. V.well organised and marshalled.
