In short: Amazing coastal scenery - In full: It was too hot for me. The wind was very kind. Met some amazing runners, everyone was very friendly and welcoming, many thanks to Peter the race director and his teams they all went that extra mile to put on a great show for all the runners. The marathon is a great way to tour the island.
The medal, post race massage, pasta party, spectators, marshals, other runners, food & bar, goody bag, stadium finish, personable race director, helpers - all put a great big smile on my face. I'm really clutching at straws to find a negative - no ground cover for baggage storage area as grass was wet. Date of review: August 27, 2012

In short: Inaugural event organised to perfection In full: One negative 17 laps - but cheery and enthusiastic supporters faces to look forward to every lap was great. Due to the design of the course you could look side ways and see runners slightly behind you and a bit ahead, watch mountain bikers as you run - great scenery of people. So don't be put off by the 17 laps.
The wrist bands were easy to use as lap trackers and having the MC call my name stating I had 2 laps to go was very much appreciated.
Easy to run a paced race without being bored, the incline towards the end of each lap after 14 laps became a hill.
No queue for the ladies toilets brilliant.
Post race massage (optional extra), venue facilities, pre race communication was great and pre race logistics was smooth.
Race organisation was faultless and very much appreciated. I'll be back.

In short: Top Park to run In full: Where else will you have deer partially blocking your route - awesome scenery. I love running in Richmond Park.
Medal, chip time, T-shirt, hat, organisation, pre race communication, drinks stations , marshals, post race massage, first aid/ambulance crew - all excellent. If it had the crowds of VLM I would cry for it nearly being sooo perfect.
There was so much food at drinks stations bananas, jelly babies - loved it!
Weather dry, ideal temperature
The only drawbacks are the dogs not on leads, and the cars, however, the marshals did a excellent job of stopping the cars at every intersection - wow hats off to the marshals.
It's my first RPM, I'll be back to set a new course Pb. Date of review: May 20, 2012

In short: Muddy, windy, incessant rain/sleet, hills to give you chills FULL MARATHON- Loved it In full: Slow full marathon female runner.
If you took part in it, you will never be able to forget the experience. The conditions were chillingly hypothermic. I Feel really proud to be one of the 164 ish people to complete the full marathon course in such treacherous conditions of slippery, greasy, tacky mud and punishing incessant onslaught of rain/sleet.
The marshalling were smiling angels, organisers were superb and faultless, scenery was inspiring even though visibility was poor, the course was unforgiving - a great marathon challenge. Full breakfast at the finish invaluable and went down like a treat.
Special thanks to marshals at mile 24 and those back at base for helping thru my slightly hypothermic condition at the end.
Free digital photos from Sussex Sport Photography icing on the cake.
So I didn't have the right kit, but so be it, I still completed it and loved every minute of it.
I now have a stinger shot glass, a stinger cup, but please please please with a cherry on the top, can I next time have a medal! Date of review: March 6, 2012

In short: Full Marathon - stinger hills of a scorpion - must be done In full: Great value for money; weather: perfect.
Conditions; not for the faint hearted; slipped and fell on my side around 5 miles, but got up and carried on. It was muddy in many places, would hate to know what its like on a rainy day or rained in the last 5 dates prior to race.
Scenery: to die for, approaching 20 mile marker and saw the sea it was all the inspiration I needed for a very tough course. beautiful scenery could not take it all in - fabulous.
Organisation - pre, post during was excellent. I got there slightly late , was like clockwork.
marshaling - excellent, very friendly route markers - excellent, prior to the race I was apprehensive , but I could not fault it.
number of drink stations: excellent - knew it was important to be very well hydrated more than in famous flat city marathon courses. So started hydration the night before , I didn't carry a hydration pack with me, which turns out wasn't need anyway and didn't need to drink at every drinks station.
Drinks: orange was not too sweet, but just right unlike branded energy drinks , water tasted like tap water. the amount in the cups was good, not filled to the top. So how do you make a really good event even better?
I collect shot glasses so loved the shot glasses; But take the point that if you have done this race before a medal or other momento would be nice.
Post English breakfast : ok and it went down the hatch like a treat.
This race ticks all the boxes except Pb.
Highly recommend this marathon. p.s. Garmin states I burnt 3,000 calories :) and I got a tan - gosh Date of review: March 8, 2010

In short: Hills just kept on coming In full: Lovely race, organisation went very well - thanks to marshals, the hills were plenty and challenging no chance of turning on auto-pilot running. It was good to have time clock at half-way point. improved my Pb. Loved the finish running into the park where it all begin. Those hills in the countryside deserved a medal for the finishers. t-shirt will be archived. Date of review: February 13, 2010

In short: Nice fast course In full: Nice flat course in a very convenient location. Improved my Pb. £2 for under 2 hours for car parking in the park. Well Organised. Love the t-shirt received before the race, it was lovely seeing a sea of yellow t-shirts running. The 4 lap course wasn't too bad. Date of review: February 13, 2010

In short: 52 hills , but u can do it In full: The hills are alive as they didn't get any easier over the 26 laps. This is my 2nd marathon (1st one was 7 days ago).
I learnt to jog 6 months ago (6 months ago I had never jogged over 2 miles in my life), so would strongly recommend to beginners not looking for a PB but a challenge.
Make sure you have £2 in change for car parking.
Good course for friends/relatives to come along and support, but if you don't arrange your own supporters like me , there was plenty enroute... an over the 26 laps you felt like you knew them :) .
I can see why lap counting might be difficult for the marshals. It's such a big park , could the course lap for next year be at least 2 miles.
Loved the t-shirt & medal, thanks to all Marshals and Organisers, a job well done. Date of review: October 25, 2009

In short: Great Atmosphere, In full: This was a great first half-marathon, as I didn't have a watch so not fussed about the time only completing the course in good spirits and left feeling I could jog a longer distance.
The stewards had a list of names of runners so they could look us up and shout out encouragement to us by name, which was great. Had a family feel from the warm up to the cool down. The scenery was motivational and the heat -my word... was hot hot hot. Really enjoyed eating the food goodie bag on the grass with a bit of shade.
Course could have done with some mile markers and starting earlier so less time jogging in the midday heat.

In short: My first marathon and I made it. In full: Just started jogging 6 months ago, this is my first marathon and the longest distance I've ever jogged or walked. Could not follow the route description to save my life (I must have covered 28 miles the number of times I got lost), but the hardcore walkers were brilliant. Do not attempt this challenge if it is your first marathon, unless your mad, which I must be as I had a smile on my face when I reached the finish. The scenery is too die for. I'm glad I completed some 3,000 ft ascent.
I'm disappointed I didn't get a medal only a certificate, as this must be the mother of all marathons.
Thanks to the marshals and special thanks to LDWA walkers I had the pleasure of meeting.
