In short: Was it a running race or a swimming gala, either way excellent race! In full: Some very tough and wet conditions this year, but yet again AVR put on a fantastically excellent race. Great marshals despite being soaked and frozen! AVR showed what great friends they are to us by starting the race with a minutes silence in memory of a Chippenham Harriers club mate who sadly died whilst running recently. Great Club, Great Race! In short: Well organised, well marshalled, good cakes! In full: Well organised and well marshalled. A good course with a loop around the lovely Lacock. A reasonably quick course but with a couple of moderate climbs. Good atmosphere. Given the price a memento would be nice. Date of review: September 16, 2012

In short: Wet! Wet! Wet! In full: I had been targeting this race to do a sub 3 hour and at least get a GFA so was disappointed at the cancellation but I think it was the right decision. While of course marathon runners are a though bunch it is unfair to ask people to marshal and man water stations in those conditions for over 6 hours. However, the decision should have been made sooner.
I agree no goody bag for a marathon for that cost! Surely the local business can donate stuff to save reducing the amount raises for charity.
The road section of the course was fine but not sure about the lane even in good conditions.

In short: Expensive for a 10k but still an enjoyable event few issues due to weather, nice medaill In full: I enjoyed this race but I think this was due to having a good race. The first time I did it and think weather being normal would enjoy the course. I think the icey conditions around the 8km marker (which you had to run past twice) was probably not acceptable for a road race and surely the Longleat Estate could have found some more grit. Disappointed to here that the marshals had moved from this point for the second lap and therefore not around when someone went over. Also, the flushes on most of the toilets didn't work, I hope this is because they froze up overnight and very little the organisers could do about it, but perhaps, they could have asked the estate to open some of their facilities?. Nice medal even if the rest of the goody bag was a tad disappointing given the price. Dispite the hills a good 10k for newer runners as largely traffic free and good for bringing supporters/spectators. Date of review: February 5, 2012

In short: A good first running of this event. In full: A good event and a good course, well marshalled and well organised. Finish was a bit slippy so could be improved a little. A few inconsiderate drivers on the course, might have benefited from some more Runners In Road signs. Plan to be back next year. Date of review: February 14, 2011

In short: A very good event, well done all! A few tweaks to be made before opening up. In full: This was my first marathon and Llanelli didn't disappoint. I thought the organisation was excellent and scenery magificant, apart from the trading estate. But most events have some part like this to get the miles in. I enjoyed the loops and switch backs as you saw other runners. It also made it easy for spectators. I agree with the comments that perhaps the last 10k should have been done first, but not sure this would be possible with a larger field. If the switch backs remain, then more marshalls or some taping will be needed to keep runners on different sides of the roads going in different directions, the small numbers meant this wasn't problem but could be with a larger field. Also, the bollards near the life boat station need to be removed as you can meet other runners or walkers coming the other way. The finish area could have been a bit better marshalled, trying to cope with runners, spectators and people try to get out of the car park was I think a big ask for the numbers there. I heard one poor person was misdirected. Would also suggest perhaps a slightly later start when you want to attract more runners beyond South Wales. But these are little crinkles to be worked out on what I am sure will grow into a fantastic event. Of course, I am not sure you will always be so lucky with the weather.
Very pleased with my 3:26:51 for my first marathon, after only been running for a year. Date of review: April 19, 2010

In short: Well done Reading! In full: First time I did Reading and really loved it. Well organised, excellent atmosphere, great support around the course, good goody bag. Also, 5 minutes of my personal best. For the price a T-shirt would have been nice, but I know the use of the stadium is not cheap, and happy to lose the T-shirt for the stadium finish - fantastic! In short: Fast and flat, just a shame about the weather. In full: Will be a special race for me as broke the magic 40 at this race. A good race, agree with comments already posted on info on parking charges and toilets. Not sure about the hat Date of review: March 14, 2010
