In short: Extremely well organised, friendly race - well done Torbay! In full: There's nothing not to like about this race (apart from a few mildly challenging hills perhaps). Great organisation and course, starting area works really well, usual west country welcome and friendliness, great marshalls, and some nice scenery and spectator support in parts. Excellent value for money (Exeter could learn a thing or two with its prices more akin to your Readings and Bristol races) and nice tech t-shirt and quality medal. Wasn't sure I'd like the no MP3 player rule (I usually ignore them but it seemed to be taken quite seriously here) but it was fine and actually as people weren't plugged in there was a bit of banter between runners which was nice. I hope to be back next year! Date of review: June 20, 2011

In short: Well orgnanised, enjoyable race In full: My third year running Swindon, and another good one (and a welcomed absence of rain, cf 2009). Thanks to the organsisers, helpers, great marshalls and water station crew, and road side supporters. The stubby water bottles on route were a big improvement (just need to do the same with the energy drinks next year please). Main niggle was having to pick up the timing chips on race day - all was smooth enough, but would be much more convenient going back to the old system of sending chips with race packs and being able to rock up and run. In short: Great event and outstanding value - will be back for my 3rd in a row next year! In full: Faultless organisation again. Lots of great marshalls (and locals) offering encouragement along the way. Not a 'flat' course but hills are nothing like the 'ridgeway', for those familiar with the Swindon event. Like last year, a quality tech t-shirt in the goodie bag, plus a nice medal which was new this year. Unclosed roads were not an issue - the biggest traffic 'incident' was the guy towing the caravan who had a nightmare trying to turnaround when he happened upon the main road blocked by hundreds of runners just before the start! In short: Great organisation, great atmosphere, great race. In full: Very enjoyable despite the weather. Also felt easier than last year's race day mini heat wave. Faultless organisation and crew. Good support where the course lends itself to it. Nice medal and goody bag. Maybe slightly biased as this is now my local half, but it's also my personal favourite and I'm already looking forward to running it again in 2010. Date of review: October 17, 2009

In short: Great event In full: Extremely well organised. Many thanks to the fantastic marshals and water station crews. Pretty, predominantly flat route with a few minor undulations. Nice downhill stretch to finish. Great tech, and the Lucozade/banana were most welcome. I'd also happily pay extra to add to my medal collection. Will hopefully be back next year!
