In short: friendliest race ever! but those hills....
In full: Did the robin hood in september, but this was in a different league! I've never run a 'smaller' event before, but it was so friendly, the marshalls and spectators made me feel special, not just one of thousands passing through! The scenery was stunning, at one point running with a flock of sheep!
However - when the organizers described the route as 'undulating, but no major hills to worry about' they lied! It was challenging, but pleased I didn't join the majority who walked up the worst of them! Will train better for that next year, but despite that managed a PB, so pretty special day all round.
Ditching the robin hood for this one!

In short: My local marathon, so I'm loyal......
In full: Yes it is expensive, (don't bother paying for the t-shirt) the first half is a seriously hilly challange with massive amounts of runners on some occasionally quite narrow paths, and the second half is quite lonely in places. But it is a well supported race, through Nottinghams nicest bits, with a fantastic atmosphere - loads of drummers, music, and the odd water pistol attack.

An unusually high number of 'dead' runners at the sides of the roads this year, though, and alot of marathoners breaking off at the embankment and just doing the half. The route was identical to last year, but alot of people did seem to be struggling.

Marshalls and huge crowd (particularly in the first half) did a fantastic job of cheering us on, and it's this that makes it a fantastic race! It's my big race of the year, and I love it!
