In short: Good race, well organised In full: Despite detonating at 22 miles I enjoyed this race. The course wasn't too difficult and was well marshalled. Didn't mind that it was 2 laps, although I found the longer section on the Greenway cycle/footpath a bit challenging - probably just fatigue though! A very good alternative to London. In short: A well-organised enjoyable event In full: My third Bristol Half, but first one for 4 years. Really enjoyed it. Friendly atmosphere, slick organisation, fast course, lovely weather, what's not to like?! I'll be back again. Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Great support, great medal! In full: First time at Reading for me. Was very impressed with organisation pre-race. I was in the red zone and seem to miss a lot of the problems that others had. The course was fast and after initial congestion thinned out to allow me to push on to a PB time. Loved the stadium finish and the medal is very impressive. I'd happily do this one again. Date of review: March 3, 2014
In short: First time here for me. Friendly, well organised and an enjoyable run. In full: The wet weather wasn't ideal, but the off-road parts of the course held up pretty well - just some puddles really. The brass band on the course was a nice touch and the organisation and marshalling was excellent.
I'm not sure if its a fast course or not. I was 4 mins outside PB but am not currently at my fittest! There are a couple of 'lumps', but I suspect that in good conditions (dry, not windy, not too hot) PB's are definitely possible. Was a pleasant experience. Recommended. Date of review: August 5, 2013
In short: Fairly tough course but well organised and friendly In full: Course change from last year means that instead of a sharp hill at Saltram you have a long slog up the other side. Personally I liked this and suspect that it made the course slightly quicker. Support was great, weather was runner-friendly and I had a great day (nice goodie bag too) Date of review: May 1, 2013
In short: An enjoyable run with some lovely scenery In full: First time for me. I was a relatively late entry and so was recipient of a faulty chip - but apart from that it was a great day. The course is challenging, but not too bad as by the time you hit the 2nd lap you know what's coming and can conserve energy for the late hills! Atmosphere a little flat from spectators but the marshalling was excellent, the rock and rol band were fun and I really enjoyed the run. The dip in the sea afterwards was colder than expected!! In short: Well organised and very enthusiastic support - well done Brighton! In full: I enjoyed this race. The course was well laid out and had a mix of good views, well supported residential streets, and even - yes - a hideous dull section after 20 miles that you were glad to put behind you!
I didn't much care for the water pouches and in common with others had a coughing fit when trying to drink from one. I also like to douse my head in a bit of water and it was difficult to do that with these. Other than those minor gripes it was an excellent marathon with a great atmosphere and I would recommend it to others. Date of review: April 18, 2012
In short: A very enjoyable race that I would recommend In full: First time at this one for me. I was aware that there were some hills, but they were not as fearsome as all that. Course a bit twisty but there were some lovely views by the Sound and the track finish was great. Date of review: February 21, 2012
In short: Great event - everything went like clockwork. Highly recommended In full: My first marathon and I suspect that it will be hard to top. Course was lovely and not too daunting. Crowds out and about were brilliant and I loved the finish at the racecourse. Well done all involved! Date of review: October 12, 2011
In short: Good course, well organised, very good race. In full: My first time here. Had been warned about the big hill after 2K but it was still a shock! A varied course though with downs as well as ups and PB potential if you get the pacing right. Very well organised - well doen Erme Valley Harriers. Date of review: May 24, 2011
