In short: 'Undulating', but it keeps you coming back for more In full: This was my second Loch Ness Marathon after originally running it in 2003. I'd completely forgotten how many undulations there are in the first few miles. A challenging run, and I'd agree with a previous commentator that I love it and hate it in equal measure because of thta. Not much the organisers can do about the weather, but in most over respects they do enough in my book to justify the very positive feedback they receive each year. A number of small gripes (none of which individually or combined would put me off doing it again) - not enough portaloos at the start; too many bikers on the route; too many tourists on the pavement down by the river. Too many positive aspects to list. Keep up the good work and don't rest on your laurels!! Date of review: October 3, 2006

In short: Hit In full: Same as Rachey-babes - from 18-21 miles the heat started to get to me and then I went backwards. On a cooler day it'd have been much more fun. Organisation, water etc. seemed reasonable but I'd think again before doing another "summer" marathon. Date of review: June 11, 2006

In short: Poorly oganised. I'm glad I didn't have to travel for it. In full: Its easy to criticise, but hey, I paid my money so I'll have my say.
Other people have already covered the main points: not enough toilets (but then what race does); segregation at the start was so poor as to be non-existent - putting the toilets beside the (completely) inadequately sized 'expected time' zones was just a bad idea. Why did we have to run behind ocean terminal? That was a bottle neck waiting to happen. What happened to the sports drinks which were promised? The goody bag! When I got back to my car I thought the contents must have fallen out en route because all I could find was a bottle of water, an energy bar and a bunch of advertising leaflets.
I'm probably just in a bad mood because I expected to so much more from a race which made great claims about itself, was heavily advertised and clearly very well sponsored. I'd do it again, but only because I happen to live in Edinburgh Date of review: March 26, 2006
