In short: Well organised race, good for a PB In full: A nice race through the town with plenty of support. Well organised, and lots of encouragement from the marshals. Good for a PB, although the narrow exit from the start could slow things down a bit for those towards the back of the field. Good value - nice medal, technical T shirt and a decent goody bag as well. In short: Well organised race, good for a PB In full: First part of the course is rather boring but after that it improves. Marshalling and organisation good as always, and the lack of significant hills gives a good chance of a PB. Date of review: March 31, 2013

In short: Good course for a PB, but not in today's weather In full: The course was flat as advertised, but the downside of this was that it was exposed to the wind, which was quite strong (and cold!) this year. Virtually traffic free - I only saw a couple of cars the whole way round. Not a lot of support except from the marshals, but this was hardly a surprise, given how cold it was. Particularly appreciated the Jaffa Cakes etc at the finish - a nice touch. Date of review: March 10, 2013

In short: Well organised race, good for a PB In full: The course is flat but exposed, which can make it hard work in places on a windy day like today. Organisation was great, apart from the location of some of the km markers as someone else already mentioned. However, I use a Garmin for taking splits so it wasn't a problem. In short: Well organised race as always In full: This is a good 10k on a pretty flat 2-lap course, well marshalled as always. Given the recent wet weather, I welcomed the slight change to the course to finish on tarmac rather than across the playing field. Date of review: November 25, 2012

In short: Fast race on a flat course In full: This is one of the flatter and faster half marathons I've done; although I didn't get a PB, many of my friends did, so the potential is definitely there. Quite a bit of support round the course (no doubt helped by the two-lap format), and plenty near the start and finish. Baggage drop and reclaim was a bit slow, but better than last year, and having it inside the building was a definite plus had the weather not been so kind. The underpass was a definite bottleneck (though OK when I passed through it), but there's little alternative. All in all, a good race and one I'll do again. Thanks to the marshals, who were encouraging us all the way round. Date of review: September 16, 2012

In short: Low-key event on an undulating rural course In full: The course had a few hills, none of them too steep but one rather long, and was mostly in the countryside so pleasant but not much support around the course. Although it wasn't traffic-free there was very little traffic. Well organised and marshalled, thanks to those involved in putting it on. Date of review: September 10, 2012

In short: Challenging but fun In full: They call these races "challenges", and they certainly are - don't expect to get close to your on-road pace. To say it's a multi-terrain course is an understatement - there's road, sheep tracks, open pasture, stone steps, fords and the infamous bog to negotiate. However, the course marking and marshalling were great, so there were no problems following the route, which was certainly one of the most scenic I've done. Having the shorter races in the morning and the main race in the afternoon, with a town centre finish, meant plenty of support on the run in. Added to that was one of the best goody bags I've received and a party in the evening. Although I rarely do off-road races, I'd certainly come back here again and see if I can beat the train next time. Well done, Tywyn Rotary Club! Date of review: August 21, 2012

In short: Lovely scenic course In full: Very pleasant course, following the Thames (or this year, the Jubilee River in places) most of the way; although largely off-road, there was a surprising lack of mud except for a stretch near the end, in spite of the recent weather. Well organised and marshalled, and in spite of the warning about narrow sections, there were very few places where you couldn't pass other runners if you wanted to. Date of review: July 22, 2012
