In short: First marathon, and a good one do do as a first. In full: I came up from Cornwall to do this race, it was my first full marathon. A few things went wrong on the day which gave me a lot slower time than I was aiming for, but none of this was down to the race itself. I liked the water bags, as if I have water in cups I get more down my t shirt than in my mouth, and bottles just end up getting tripped over. The route was ok, but I thought it would be more scenic, the worst bit for me was running up a seeming never ending street before turning back around and running down it again. My only real moan is there was not enough toilets, there were points where I had to decide if it was better to go in a headge or que. Apart from that a first great marathon.
In short: Hills hills hills! In full: Great race and my 4th in 4 weeks. I almost broke the 2 hour mark, which i was well pleased with on such a hard route. Really enjoyed this one, but think it will hurt tomorrow! Date of review: March 18, 2012
In short: Good to try but not my cup of tea. In full: This was my 7th half and my first big city one. Its just a personal thing but it was to big for me, the course was fast but I found it hard to get a good pace going because there were so many people. As I said though that is just a personal thing, and I would not suggest to anyone else not to do it. It was a bit expensive, but a you did get a really good goodie bag, medal and t shirt. As for first timers I entered my sister for her first ever race and she loved every min of it. The huge crowd would be a bonus to motivate any first timer. Date of review: March 11, 2012
In short: Hills, mud and did I mention hills! In full: This was my 5th half marathon so I thought I knew what I was in for, I was wrong! The course was very very tough, I ran the Eden project half last year and I would say that the hills were about the same but the mud made it harder. I finnished in 2hr 6min which is a good time for me on such terrain. The event seemed well organised to me and it was well marked and marshled (thanks to the people who did it). We did get a nice t-shirt but it would have been nice to get a medal, as I always like to show them to my grandad. This is probably a joint favorite race with Eden for me, and if my legs have stopped hurting by next year I will enter again! Date of review: February 26, 2012
In short: Best Half I have done. In full: Loved the half marathon, it was the hardest one i have done, but i was pleased with my 2 hr 8 min. It was well organised, with good facilities. Also great bag with t shirt and medal in, add that to the free pasty and pint and free eden entry for the year and i feel it was well worth the money. Date of review: October 9, 2011
In short: Great 2nd half. In full: I did this half with some people from work, our boss talked us into it saying it was flat, (he lied!) The race was very well organised and everyone was very very friendly. i really enjoyed it and hope to be able to do it again. well done and thank you to everyone who organised and marshalled. In short: First half marathon, and i picked the right one to start with! In full: This was my first half marathon and so i was there bright and early with my better half at just past 8am! so had a bit of a wait for the start, but better than being late, as i was stood there nervous as hell, the organizer rob came over and said hello and we had a quick chat which was great as it calmed my nerves and i apreciate it as he was very busy! the people on the run were friendly, and there was no chance of getting lost with all the marshalers, who did a great job and were very cheerful, (plus they had sweets! always a bonus) the route was good with some mud near the end making it more interesting. I dont have any other races of any distance to compair this to, but as far as i can see it was great. Thanks to eveyone involved in planning and running it! Date of review: February 21, 2010
