In short: Good alternative to the Abbey Dash In full: Not used to sharing the route with oncoming traffic though that was mainly clustered around the town. Congested at the start though once we got a bit further out the roads open up and you have great scenery. Some decent hills on the way back in which are a good test but shouldn't be too off-putting. Chip timing which although accurate for me, somehow managed to give my friend a time about 8 minutes quicker than she ran! Overall a nice 'community feel' alternative to the well attended Abbey Dash, and at £13 good value in this day and age. Date of review: November 19, 2013
In short: Tough but great fun. In full: Very tough running (walking!), some BIG hills (Trooper an absolute killer), single file at several points and treacherous underfoot in parts. Go expecting it to be tough and come back thinking it was even tougher! A must if you like that sort of thing. Really good scenery with brilliant views over Halifax and then running among the bluebells through the woods. Great fun crossing the river at the end. Bit close to the traffic at points but only briefly. Communication in the build up could have been better but overall great race, great value. First time for me, aching now but i'll be back next year. Date of review: May 2, 2010
In short: Excellent day out for something a bit different In full: First time for me venturing off road, great to do something a bit different. Some (not overly) challenging hills and fun stream/ditch crossings and hay bail jumps taking in the scenic grounds of the Northern Racing College.
We were fortunate with some good weather and the water stop at half way was very welcome. Good facilities at the HQ incluing a nice enough cafe. Overall a friendly, laid back atmosphere and a great day out for a testing but enjoyable break from the norm. Date of review: April 11, 2010
