In short: fab location for a challenging trail marathon
In full: now that the feeling has returned to my hands and I have stopped shivering, I can say that I had a great race yesterday. The location is just great, the conditions made it hugely challenging, with constant rain and a very wet and muddy route. A cup of coffee and somewhere dry to get changed at the end would have been great, getting changed out of my wet kit in the car without the use of my hands was tough! not a pb course (also slightly over marathon distance, my garmin recorded 26.6 miles; maybe I staggered a bit after mile 22..) but if you want something different and prefer scenery and your own company to crowds etc, this is a low key event and when I have done it before in good weather, outstanding.

In short: fast and well organised
In full: I entered this to get a 10k pb and it worked. Organisation was good and it was a fun one to do with club mates. Personally I prefer a bit more scenery when I run but thats just me.

In short: great race, one I would do again
In full: I was a bit gutted that all that lovely scenery had to be viewed through a constant downpour of rain, but it was still stunning and worth the effort. A couple of tough hills but the downhills were lovely. Definitely wouldn't advise ipod wearing (as some people were) as there are times when the traffic is a little close for comfort. Only downside was queuing for ages to get out of the car park as I was soaked to the skin, very cold and very hungry!

In short: absolutely brilliant
In full: relentless hills, stunning scenery, brilliant organisation, uplifting support from lovely people, and somehow, amazingly, a PB as I broke 4 hours for the first time!! I am on cloud nine, loved it.

In short: fantastic atmosphere
In full: This was my first city marathon as I usually run trails. The course was a bit tight at times, I had to concentrate on not tripping over people, but that may have been as I was running with one of the pace guys (until the heat got me half way and I had to drop back a bit). The crowds were amazing, especially in the back streets where an angel gave me an orange wedge and another one sprayed me with a garden hose. I wouldn't have got my pb without those touches, the showers were great too, and the bands were fab. I was sobbing and exhausted by the end, and walking into a wall of spectators was not what I needed..repatriation area was the only poorly organised bit, otherwise, very slick and a fantastic location. I have to admit I will be back to the trails from now on, but I am glad I chose Brighton as my city marathon :-)

In short: second half was more fun...
In full: A good, well organised, no frills race. I enjoyed the second half of the race more, once we got off the canal towpath and into the hills and the woodland trails; lovely!

In short: stunning location
In full: my first marathon and the views and beautiful trails on the hambleton peninsula made it very enjoyable. Organisation was good, very friendly marshals giving lots of encoragement. Big thanks to the lady who undid my shoelaces for me at the end to remove my timing chip! Route was more hilly than I expected, good job I have been training on hills!
