In short: An enjoyable run for my first 10k
In full: This was my first 10k and got me hooked! Nothing amazing about the scenery - it starts in a park but is run on the roads, although you do run past some very nice houses! There was a good atmosphere and a group warm-up at the start. A few inclines but nothing too challenging. Well organised and timing chips were provided. I've done five 10k races now (I'm reviewing this 9 months after the event) and this one had the nicest medal (not that that's why we do it!). Fruit and chocolate bars were handed out with the bottles of water at the end, which was a nice touch. Looking forward to the 2010 race!

In short: A couple of challenging hills but I still managed a PB!
In full: The Beckenham Road 10k was well organised with no need to register on the day - just turn up and run. There were a couple of challenging hills but I still managed a PB, which I really wasn't expecting, so don't let the hills put you off! Everyone received a medal and there were jelly babies too!

In short: Great for a PB, 4 flat laps of a lovely park
In full: Really enjoyed this 10k and achieved a PB, as did my friend. The course is flat so it has great PB potential. There were no queues for collection of numbers as there were not many runners taking part (can't remember the exact number but 100-150). Really nice park and everyone was awarded a medal and a random Chelsea book! I'd definitely do this one again.

In short: Definitely challenging with the heat and hills but recommended!
In full: This is definitely not a PB course so the best thing to do is accept that from the start and enjoy the challenge! This was my 5th 10k and my worst time, but given the very hot temperatures and the hills I still felt that I'd achieved something.

Nice to do an off road and scenic route and the marshalls were very encouraging. The atmosphere was very good and the race was well organised. No queues for toilets and a nice medal at the end.

In short: What a joke - huge queues, delayed start, mass disorganisation and timing chips failed so no official times.
In full: This race had great potential. Lovely route alongside the Thames and completely flat which provided a good opportunity for a personal best. However, no one will ever find out if they achieved a PB or not, as the timing chips all failed and the race organisers failed to take the times down manually or by video technology. This topped off what was the most disorganised run imaginable. There was no excuse for the long queues - they knew how many people would be turning up to collect their timing chips before the start as race numbers had already been sent out by post and entries were not accepted on the day. And who thought that 10 portaloos for 1500 people was enough?! The huge queues resulted in a delayed start and runners getting freezing cold. The experience after the finish line was just as bad. A huge mass of runners not knowing where they were supposed to go or where to hand back timing chips. The handing out of water, energy drinks, fruit and cereal bars was haphazard. The race organisers made a big deal of the tshirts but these were rubbish - plain white with an 'energised sports' logo and no reference to the 10K. Do not give them free advertising - burn your tshirts!!
