In short: A cold hilly 2 lap race
In full: A nice if hilly race a little cold but fine once running. I was a disappointed not to get a bottle of water and a snack of some description, it was a 10K after all

In short: A good race despite the weather trying its best
In full: A good enjoyable race a little muddy in places with a few fallen trees. A rescheduled race due to snow but well organised lots of good marshals and a decent goody bag.

In short: Needs improvement
In full: This race has massive potentially but certain things need to be sorted out for any future races.

Firstly the parking. My sat nav had me arriving on site by 08:15, by the time I got parked it was 08:50. Then on leaving it took me 1.5 hours to get off the car park, this was only thanks to other runners pushing me out of the mud. I should have paid to park in the town and walk in.

I was lead to believe by the information prior to the race that it started at 09:15, it didn't it started at 09:00 (the clock at the castle chimed as the race started for 9am). I believe lots of people missed the start due to traffic/parking congestion, (and a lot of these people are regular race runners who are used to traffic congestion), why not delay the start by 15 to 30 mins not hard.

The finish of the race: Finishing on grass I nearly fell not great. The medal is naff don't bother. T-shirt only found distribution point by error. Massive Que to collect baggage why? Goodie bag included a chewy bar and a lot of things for women, (I'm male).

The marshals on course were plenty full but not always vocal.

Stafford half marathon was also on 17/03/13 I wish I had done this instead. I will not do this race in 2014 and will only enter if this race gets more positive feedback.

BHF please ask other race organisers and local running club for advice otherwise this race will die. £23 is a lot of money for a half marathon please make it worth it. If you wish to contact me about my comments please feel free to do so.

In short: Improvement needed
In full: I did the half version (13.1). This race has great potential. Firstly the gripes I know this was a trail race but I think one of the fields had been freshly ploughed, nice farmer! (this may require more interaction with farmers). Secondly there were not enough marshalls by half at one point having lost sight of the people in front of me a spectator had to give me directions and I'm not the only one, less marshalls at water stations and more on the course would be better. Thirdly the cost of the coach was a bit excessive £4 for a 10 minute journey. On the plus side I got a medal, technical t-shirt and certifecate. The water supplied was in bottles a real bonus. Good bag drop and friendly people.

One question why the concillor who was oblivious that some people were running the course.

A race with great potential which could be reached with the help of local running clubs.

In short: Un-helpful Literature
In full: Firstly, no postcode of the start/race HQ with literature. Stopped locally drove in and made my way to a car park where they were charging £4 to park on a mudddy field...I parked on a road around the corner for free. On my race literature I was under the illusion that the race started at 11:15am a logical time to start as it wouldn't be to warm, however the race started at 14:00 to late and warm. As I mentioned this the marshalls just found this hilarious. I found this race to be un-friendly. I did not run it as I felt annoyed by the un-helpful marshalls and had to collect my dog from my parents before 3pm. I will not apply for this race again.
