In short: A very enjoyable event, and lots of facilities on hand to keep the family occupied. In full: An interesting course, with a couple of hills along the way. The start is very congested, with only a hundred yards or so before the course narrows. As other people have mentioned, starting with a circuit of the athletics track would give more time for the field to spread out before reaching the narrow section. As the event starts next door to a leisure centre, there are lots of changing facilities, lockers, loos and showers there, which makes a nice change from the usual portaloos at a lot of events. In addition, the swimming pool and excellent cafe means that the rest of the family can amuse themselves there during the race, and have lunch there afterwards to avoid any queues on leaving the site.
