In short: My favourite race through the closed roads and parks of Ealing In full: What can I say...I love this race and have run all 5. It doesn't surprise me that it has won the award for best half 3 years running as the organisation is faultless and the race is clearly run by runners for runners. What makes it special though is the community feel...from the vicars handing out water (all the churches on route are water stations), to the annual street party at mile 5 (where residents make the most of being on a closed road), to impromptu bands and teen djs in front gardens, to locals supporting in pjs with cups of tea!. The course is definitely undulating, but that means plenty of downhills too and the atmosphere for the last km as you run back into the park to the finish always makes me feel like a celebrity! I'll be entering for 2017 as soon as entries open. This is definitely a race not to be missed.
In short: This race just gets better every year In full: This was my 4th time running Ealing Half and it just keeps getting better. The closed roads and parks of Ealing looked resplendent in the autumn sunshine. The residents seem to treat it like one big party with the streets lined full of support. This really is London at its best! The organisation is faultless with hundreds of friendly marshals on the course; encouraging pacers; water stations cheerily manned by the churches of Ealing; and a race village to die for with plenty of toilets, a quick and efficient bag drop and loads of space in the park to just hang out and soak up the atmosphere both before and after the race A day full of smiles - I'll be back and you should definitely join me on the start line next year!! In short: Everyone should run Ealing Half - great race!! In full: The inaugral race in 2012 was fantastic - unbelivably this year was even better! Faultless organisation, a great course on closed London roads and through local parks, brilliant marshalling and plentiful water stations. Local residents really enter into the spirit of the whole event and create a party atmosphere all the way around. I'll definitely be back in 2014! Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: Fantastic atmosphere; great course; faultless organisation In full: Over the last few years, I'd lost my love of running and would struggle to run for 10 minutes. Then, I saw an advert for EHM and knew I had to enter a run that started 5 minutes from my house. Training began with laboured runs around Lammas Park....Fast forward six months and I'm excitedly standing on a start line in that same park with thousands of people around me ready to tackle 13 miles! The race was fantastic...the support all around the course was awesome...water stations were frequent so no need to worry about carrying a bottle and the marshalls must be exhausted from all that smiling and cheering! I hardly noticed the mile markers because I was having too much fun to watch (even after 2 hours when the legs began to hurt!) and the BIG Plus of all those hills is that the downhills are such a relief when you're tired - much easier than running on the flat the whole way! I strongly recommend this race to anyone who wants a friendly, well organised run whatever your pace. I'll be entering again as soon as registration opens for 2013. Date of review: October 2, 2012
In short: Tough conditions, but very friendly In full: Rain, sleet, snow and mud made for horrendous conditions...but the marshalls were always smiling and encouraging (even to those of us who took 3 hours to finish)...and jelly babies at mile 14 gave that extra kick of energy that was needed. Will be back for the 20 in 4 weeks time...buit would like better weather please!! Date of review: February 28, 2010
