In short: Good, well organised fun half In full: Both my wife and I ran and thought it very good. Great medal, hilarious T-shirt and very friendly team, we would happily recommend. The course was flat and quick but maybe some pacers would be useful for some. Also, it would have been better for the water bottles to be pre-opened, it just makes it a bit easier, Results came out quickly but would be nice to have had an automated email to let us know. All in all, great fun, good value so thanks to the Palace Half team! Date of review: March 20, 2016
In short: Top notch, fun, tough half In full: Trionium really do put on some of the best events around. From the excellent organisation, to the quirkiness of the events, to the glorious courses and the great goodies..... This was one of my favourites. A lovely course, tough but not too much so, lots of camaraderie too. Well done and thanks - I'll be back again Date of review: March 6, 2016
In short: Great set up for a 50 miler if you can take the laps In full: Perfect for me, training for a longer race to test nutrition, leave your stuff at the camp and pick up on each lap. It can get a bit monotonous though (10 laps of a 5 mile route) so a strong will is a must.... Really friendly encouraging marshalls though which was welcomed at 03:00 in the morning!
Overall, enjoyed and good cameraderie. Date of review: July 26, 2015
In short: Challenging course but a real thrill to complete In full: Friendly race along some lovely trails. Undulating course that both my wife and I enjoyed running along. Accommodating to different standards of runner - a real treat, Date of review: May 17, 2015
In short: Well organised, friendly run In full: My first time at this event - it was really nicely organised, the checkpoints were friendly and had everything that you need and a warm welcome at the finish. The scenery changes hugely throughout the run from beautiful (on the day) snowy scenery to a rather industrial last few miles on the canal. I totally agree with David Elliot that a brilliant touch was - one of the team finding my bag from the van and bringing it to me at the end - a small thing but oh so welcome. Big thanks to that person! Date of review: January 18, 2015
In short: Nice run but a bit chaotic In full: Firstly, great to see Roger Bannister and also to run the Iffley Road track, that was a privilege. Route was pretty good but a bit dull in the first couple of miles, however.....
"Mile" markers that were not every mile! I'm not sure what criteria was used but a Garmin would have helped..... Plus, what was going on at the start? Waiting for ages in the cold with reports of varying start times (we eventually got off 20 mins late). Park and Ride worked for me but had to wait around for ages at the stadium when I arrived.
All in all, it was alright. The best organisation was at the end, medal, water, goody bag, out. Perfect. Needs a bit of work and with this, could be a great half as the support and bands were great. Date of review: October 12, 2014
In short: Quite liked the course but room for improvement In full: The organisation seemed a little haphazard. The tannoy was not great, the call to the start was only a few mins before the actual start and everyone was just milling around. I ran the half and although once we got out onto the trail, it was good, the first mile or so just running around the field to make up distance was not great in my opinion.
Once out on the trail, it was very muddy in places but I guess I was fortunate to have brought trail shoes as some of the other runners were sliding all over the place. However, liked the course as although not too severe, was challenging in places and generally good fun.
Atmosphere in the start area was fine, but only really one area out on the course was noisy and cheery and the aid stations, although frequent, were quiet.
There are quick wins that would make this event much better, so overall it was OK but I would not rush back Date of review: June 15, 2014
In short: Enjoyable event, great to have opportunity to run at Brooklands In full: For the first event, it was a good one. The organisation was spot on and that makes these things so much better. The course went from pan flat on the track to undulating out into Weybridge but that made it more interesting. Support, where there was some, was great but the overall atmosphere, in my opinion, was quiet and not as uplifting as other races, maybe due to the fact that this is the first race. Also, timing of the event is perfect before some of the big spring marathons.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyed with nice goody bag/T-Shirt/Medal and would definitely do again. Date of review: March 30, 2014
In short: Another excellent Trionium experience In full: Super race, brutally tough, great camaraderie, excellent organisation, brilliant memories and a carrot at the end! What more can you ask for? Roll on next year.... Date of review: June 23, 2013
