In short: Fast and flat Great weather and little wind
In full: Lovely weather on a flat and scenic course. The speech before the start and the two minute silence was inspiring. Thank you to the lady who read it it was obviously heartfelt. Then we were off, 1st mile too fast (as usual)passed the famous windmill (hence the race name) then back along a road that runners definitely had priority but was opening up as i went along (i am about an hour runner, though just over today). The runn up to the lake seemed to take forever then we looped round and ran back by the lake and a final mile with a slight tail wind. medal was fine and liked the wagon wheel, this with a key ring and bottle of water was the goody bag, all used before my wife finished at 1.15. This was a really nice race for a beginner. I plodded round and finished 1.01.06 (by my watch, no chip timing in this race) and was definitely running with other runners all the way. I have found in some club races that this kind of time leaves you a bit behind the pack. My wife finished 1.15 and still had runners behind her. A great morning out for me

In short: A unique race, definitely one to try
In full: I am not a fast runner and i am not an seasoned runner. I have done 4 road half marathons and wanted to try something different.
I am glad i did though this was the hardest 1/2 i have done. Not sure what people want with the organisation, i got there was directed to the parking and got on the coach, had a nice chat with another unattached runner who had done the race last year. We then set off into a headwind, all the proper runners set off at a pace and I and the rest of the plodders set off at a different pace. The Sand is flat but.... its ripply and i found this a lot more difficult than running on tarmac or even trails. The river crossings were great, plodders had fun posing as if we were mo or ussain for the cameras and the scenery was magnificent out on the bay. I have heard it rained but i was wet anyway. Got to 10 miles and died (or at least my legs did) I had only done a couple of 13 milers on the road before this an had thought i could get in in about 2 hours 20 but finished in 2.45. But the time was unimportant, i did it and finished, thanks to all the marshals they were brilliant, especially the guy on his own at just short of 11miles who seemed to have a word of encouragement for all us back markers. Would i do it again, i think so, I didn't like hurting (no that's an understatement) from 10 miles but finishing was all the more sweeter for the pain. I suspect its like childbirth painful while its happening but rewarding afterwards. If you want to do something different this is one for you but dont take it lightly or else the bay will eat you up and spit you out!!

In short: great!! City racing at its best
In full: I love this race 5th time doing it. I am not a racing snake and its great being in the pack with a time of just over an hour. Runners are friendly before during and after. I think someone had put a hill in by the imperial war museum because that's where the wheels came off for me. I will be back again next year

In short: a fair race with a hill at 4-5 miles to keep you honest
In full: This is my local race and fell out f bed to do it. A friendly crowd, run over country lanes and pavements on main roads. A hill past Lostock station to Chorley New Road, enough to feel it but not long enough to kill you. I have a time now to judge my early season against in future years. I will run again

In short: great fun before and after with a flat fast course
In full: This was the race that started me running, It has a great atmosphere in the city beore and after. Ok its crowded but the crowded start allowed me to get a negative split and a PB (56.49 so i ain't exactly a speed merchant)

In short: Flat race on quiet country roads
In full: Friendly race, it was well organised with good communication about a delay of two weeks due to snow. The route is flat on closed country roads. 1st time below 60minutes for me so will always have fond memories
