In short: A very enjoyable marathon
In full: This race has everything a runner could want, well marked route, frequent water stations, pleasant surroundings and the course seems pretty quick despite a few undulations - there are also some long flat sections. Parking is convenient for the start, and once I had finished a minibus picked me up so I didn't have to walk back. I have always run quicker than London in this race so it is worth targeting for a spring marathon.

In short: A fantastic day out with breakfast thrown in
In full: Very impressed by the organisation, particularly the mile markers in the middle of nowhere, likewise the marshals, chocolate biscuits and mars bars, the mug and the fabulous all-day breakfast. It was a hard run in a cold wind but it was dry. The ground was a bit hard on the three occasions when I tripped on a flint, but that's the South downs for you!

In short: Unique event for ladies!
In full: Very friendly, lovely prizes, cake and route. Although the route is undulating and along paths in some places it is fairly fast. I really enjoyed running along the quiet roads and smooth tracks.

In short: Wonderful race - a great day out
In full: This race had everything a marathon needs, particularly mile markers, and even 10k marks! The most impressive thing is that everyone was so friendly. The route is maybe a little bumpy, but the road surface was good and traffic was quite sparse.

In short: Enjoyable and friendly but hard trail race - very hilly
In full: Seemed longer than 20.3 miles. Fairly dry for the first half but mostly covered in thick chalky mud in the last few miles. Some of the hills had both contouring and mud which was awkward. A lot of hopping from side to side to find some grass to run on. Many puddles!

In short: Nice friendly race in glorious surroundings
In full: Really nice to race round the grounds at Highclere. Bought some fab eccles cakes at the cake stall, and the wine I won was nice (very generous gift voucher too!)

In short: All the ingredients for a great race
In full: Bearbrook did brilliantly, as ever. I really enjoyed this event. Also amazed how quickly the results were produced - shows chips aren't essential where the organisers have talent!

In short: Very enjoyable race
In full: This is said to be undulating, but I found it no more so than Luton marathon (same area!). The race was extremely well organised and friendly. Traffic was well controlled. Marshalls were very supportive.
