In short: Tough but enjoyable In full: The word 'challenge' in the title may in fact be a slight understatement! This race hurt.... but in a good way!
The event had a really nice village feel to it. The sun was out, the sky was blue and there were two absolutely mammoth hills to climb. I hadn't been reduced to walking in a race before until yeaterday!
It was a great sense of achievement to complete the 5.34 mile (ish) course and it was very well marshalled and organised - and a bargain at £6!
Will i be back next year....? Absolutely! Date of review: July 25, 2011
In short: Good village race with a nice local feel to it In full: This was my first Barns Green 1/2 and I have heard from many that this is a tough one. It didn't disappoint! There seemed to be no let up on the ascent from about 9 - 11 (in fact the whole race felt like it was uphill!) Well organised though and apart from some car parking issues and a bit of a poor goody bag (chocolate is not great after 13 miles) i will be back next year.... Date of review: November 4, 2010
In short: Very good apart from the wave allocation! In full: Very enjoyable race and absolutely perfect running conditions. The two gripes i have are the water bottle sizes handed out were far too big and were left all over the ground. Secondly - all the people in the purple wave who should not have been there. I was dodging 'runners' by mile 2 - some of whom were already at walking pace!! What time did you actually put on your entrance form?? Date of review: October 25, 2010
