In short: Good event, well organised. In full: Generally well organised and not a bad course. Just few minor niggles. The late change in parking meant cars driving off the car park onto the course causing some runners issue on the home stretch. A late start was a bit frustrating. The tshirt design was really nice, however I dont know if I ended up with a childs size but my medium is like a compression crop top lol and I can usually get away with a small lol. Wasnt overly keen on the finish due to the 90 degree turns on grass, but thats just me. Like I say just minor points to think about, generally a nice friendly race. Date of review: May 19, 2013

In short: Was all going swimmingly until until everyone was allowed to take a wrong turn! In full: Cheerful family oriented start. Good value. Mildly challenging first lap. Unfortunately, at around 5km I was faced with 30 or so runners heading towards me. Would appear everyone ahead of me had been allowed to turn right instead of left. After standing around for a few minutes, turned round and followed them. Back at the junction saw the tail end of the runners going left. At the next km marker was 1.5km over distance. Having run hard felt completely demoralised and decided not to bother with a second lap. Could have been an OK run, but theres really no excuse for such a fundamental failure of organisation. I may be mistaken but I'm sure there were two marshals sat on the grass watching everyone turn the wrong way! Date of review: April 28, 2013

In short: Great race, but be prepared, 2 miles downhill at the start but you will pay it back! In full: Really well organised and truly scenic. Rearranged very quickly after the snow 2 weeks ago. I consider myself a middle of the pack club runner and I find this hard. The first 2 miles are downhill and then you climb steadily for about 7 miles. There are 3 major hills and the final one at mile 12 may make you want to cry lol! BUT it is so worth the effort, the scenery is lovely and sense of achievement beats any fast road race. Id highly recommend this race. Date of review: April 7, 2013

In short: Lovely venue, nicely organised, more challenge than expected In full: Run from a nice hotel, organizing team were really friendly and well organised. Atmosphere was very friendly. mainly club runners so some good times run. Real toilets lol! Nice medal. Great price. May have been just me but seemed a lot tougher than I was expecting, especially last km to the finish up a cheeky hill! Doubt I'll ever get close to a pb on this course but enjoyed so will be back, but with lower expectations of performance lol. Great job charity organisers, I'm sure next year will be busier with some good reviews :-) Date of review: August 19, 2012

In short: Fantastic quirky race with some awesome touches :-) In full: So many positives:
Extremely friendly atmosphere. Great organisation. Very Cheap. Great goody back of snacks. Double decker bus with chocolate muffins back to start. Get to see a 3* Bore.
I would run again tomorrow. The terrain is cross country and mud was hard so cow tracks were very uneven so hard going. Lots of stiles so don't expect a PB, but all adds to the charm of the event.
My only slight niggle is that headphones were banned without notice at registration and I hate running without music. But that's my only negative for a great event. Thanks to the organisers :-) Date of review: April 8, 2012

In short: Excellent race, very well organised and awesome setting In full: I can't fault this race. The organisation is ultra efficient and very friendly. The course is beautiful and atmosphere is great.
All I would say is don't underestimate it, I run a fair bit but a few of the hills are challenging and I do ache in new places 24 hours later, so it's worth training for! If you are aiming for a PB, head for the front at the start, the trails are narrow in places and a lot of slower runners weren't really in the right pens, leading to congestion.
As this becomes more popular year on year, it will get more crowded so maybe not a PB course, BUT in future years I will be back and wil treat it as a chilled run in the Forest and enjoy the scenery and atmosphere and leave the PB's for road races :-) Date of review: April 2, 2012

In short: Small race, well organised, with huge potential In full: Very well organised and a bargain for £10. Got a medal that wasn't expected and free drinks and snacks afterwards. A really scenic course and at least one challenging uphill section, but the downhill stretch compensates nicely.
I will definately be going back if it's run again.
Perfect as it is, chip timing would be nice if you get any bigger, but not essential. My only other constructive comment would be to add the route and elevation profile to the website to help first time runners judge how much energy to save for the uphills. For some reason I was expecting a final hill climb that wasn't there so finished with a bit of energy in reserve.
Great friendly event, thanks to the organisers and everyone who helped marshall and support :-) Date of review: September 19, 2011

In short: Too expensive for what it was. No chip timing or souvenir shirt despite being advertised. Organisation not bad, but route was very dull. Won't be doing this again at this price. Date of review: September 4, 2011

In short: No dramas, nice enough course. In full: overall there was nothing to complain about at all. Nothing really to rave about either. As always more toilets needed lol. There was also a bit of a lack of atmosphere at the start and finish, usually a pa system with some music gets everyone going but not here, not even a gun to start.
Well marshalled, thanks guys! A few dicey spots for traffic but plenty of warning signs and the local drivers were very understanding and careful from what I saw. Nice medal again, although the only one I have with no wording on the ribbon, so looks odd with the others lol.
Nice mix of runners, all very friendly, great for beginners and a fun run for any friends not quite up to the half.
Still looking for my energy drink half way lol. Thanks to to the sea cadets for some great organisation, looked smart and disciplined too!
Can't complain, enjoyed the run just lacked the atmosphere of the last one. Date of review: May 22, 2011

In short: too crowded, amateur marshalling for such a big race In full: First the good, great venue, better goody bag than before.
The bad - way too crowded, poor signposting for the pens and far too few toilets. The marshalls weren't aequately trained, one managed to shut the whole road down because he was talking to a girl on a bike. Another took 25 mins to allow finishers to "escape" from the inner racing circle to cross the road. Doesn't sound too bad but when you're shivering after a race it's not funny!
More signage at the start please and train your marshals, try using some runners at crucial points! Date of review: May 15, 2011
