In short: My first half-marathon and not a complete disaster! In full: Sunday's half marathon was my first half marathon, hopefully of many! Having previously run the usual 5k races plus the Great South Run in October, this was the next step in my running career.
It was very cold and there was quite a lot of waiting around at the start. I was in the orange wave and crossed the line 16 mins after the gun so I think that could have been better. Once we got started conditions were good but I was glad of my gloves and merino top! The crowd was good but it was a bit quiet in places. The worst part of the race was the queueing at the end to get medals/goody bags and they ran out of smalls! Overall, though, a good first half marathon experience and I am still buzzing with a real sense of achievement. I feel completely spurred on with my running and have already signed up to a 10k and the Great South Run again for October. Maybe a marathon next year! Date of review: March 11, 2010
