In short: Our First Time At Kenilworth
In full: My husband, son and I decided to race Kenilworth this year, as our local Chippenham Half was taking a break and we wanted to race before son goes to University.
Have to say this was a really well organised and well marshalled race, the course marshalls were really enthusiastic and encouraged all runners along the course. This really helped me as I was starting to struggle at the end.
Now for the course, when we looked it up on the official website it didn't look to hilly, we were aware there was a kick at 12 miles but it didn't look too challenging. Looks can be deceiving, it was undulating from mile 1 and even when it flattened out in places it still seemed to be rising. Luckily there were lots of water stations, so were able to take on lots of water.
All in all we had a good time, PB for my husband (1:29:48), son had a great time for a first half (2:05:54)and I bettered my previous half time by 7 minutes (2:07:15). Would definitely recommend it for a challenge.

In short: Would Run Again Next Year
In full: This was my first time at the Torbay 10k and I wasnt quite sure what to expext. When I see undulating on the description my first thought is "oh great more hills".
The course itself was quite good, the hills were not as bad as I was expecting and I managed to run everyone.
Heard a couple of people say they were disappointed with gun to chip time, but I had my own GPS so went by that time.
Medal at the end was okay, but I would have liked maybe a banana or flapjack too just for the energy boost.
Will probably do it again next year.

In short: Great for a first timer
In full: Brilliant race yesterday and my first half marathon. Ran with my husband (or more to the point he ran with me!)and thought we'd make it in about 2hrs 30mins, we finished in 2hrs 10!
We'd been training for a year and I'd had a foot and hip injury in the run up to the race but it didn't stop me from taking part yesterday.
The marshalls were great and really encouraging, and the support from spectators in the surrounding villages was amazing!
Well done Chippenham Harriers for providing a great race day, as I live in Chippenham I may just have to run this again next year :)
