In short: Tougher than Beachyhead In full: Absolutely loved it! Everything went like clockwork - I enjoyed it so much, I was even impressed with my time. Although it was tough, the scenery and atmosphere made the miles tick by really quickly and gave me a huge second wind in the second half. Well done organisers and stewards - you did a great job! can't wait for next year! (oh and the dip in the sea at the end was brilliant for sore legs) - last point: well done on the small sized tech t shirts and matching medal Date of review: September 18, 2012

In short: Great marshalling In full: well done - really enjoyed this one, although, having not bothered to read the race pack, I was suprised at how much was on road. So many drink stations - well done volunteers and organisers. Loved running past the cathedral. ...and had a bit of a bum wiggle to the band at the end (how could I resist a Johnny Cash number?)- the perfect post race cool down (or maybe I should have entered the ultra?) In short: The South Downs are beautiful! In full: Stunning route - very friendly - nice low key organisation which worked well. Got a bit lost at Rodmell which was slightly annoying, as I'd been warned about it. The heat was very difficult to handle having gone from winter to high summer overnight! I found it tough and the extra 4 miles gruelling in the heat. Loved it overall though! Date of review: July 23, 2012

2012 The Steyning Stinger Marathon

In short: Thankyou marshalls! In full: My first Stinger. No more to say about mud and rain. As one of the slower runners, the wind chill factor made me feel like I was going to collapse with hypothermia towards the end but there were moments of hilarity too - like chains of runners holding hands to slide down woodland mud banks together. However, if I felt cold, I can't imagine how it must have been for the marshals - big thankyou! One point that disappointed me - in the last two miles, the thing that kept me going was the feeling of how good it would feel to have a medal well earned around my neck - there was only a mug. Nice touch on the breakfast though. Date of review: March 5, 2012

In short: Great morning out and smiling faces everywhere In full: Not a race for you if you don't like hills. Luckily I know this route all too well so no suprises for me, although I'm not sure If I will ever have the ability to run up the "W" (few do). Lovely views of sea and Sussex and almost perfect weather too (bit windy on last couple of miles, but what can be expected when you are next to the sea). Brilliant atmosphere and thanks to Sam and organisers and cheery volunteers. So much homemade cake and cordial and a nice massage at the end - it was just lovely. I am all smiles. Will certainly being a regular for this one in future. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Could someone turn the sun down next time! In full: I thought that this was a really well organized run. Thanks for improving the toilets en route (no queuing this time), although never enough at the start. As a Brightonian, I do find the route a bit dull though, but I guess that's because most of the route is where I run anyway. Don't understand the comment about the crowds as I thought they were truly fantastic again. Thanks too to the first aiders who worked really hard due to the heat, and all the wonderful volunteers who also endured the sun. Sun cream should have be offered as well as Vaseline as the sun was blazing. The expo is a great idea, however, I would like to have seen more stalls from the local running community there and I really think the massage therapists should have been based at the B'ton Centre too on Saturday. I didn't get a massage post event as the therapists were way too far away (Metropole Hotel) which was just too far for my poor legs to get too. Lets have them more easily accessed next year please. I'm sure they were in the finishing area last year. Well done Marathon team too, but please don't get carried away with increasing numbers next year - I think too big a race will spoil it. In short: I wasn't given a chip time - I might as well not have been there In full: Looks like I'm not the only one not to get a chip time or be recorded in the finishers list. It was very depressing not to be included in the Argus list as this was my first half marathon. No point repeating what others have said. Here are some other things that I'm not sure have been mentioned...I couldn't see the race clock at the start/finish line - what with not getting a chip time, i now have no idea of what my time was. It was very unclear where we should be regarding our predicted times at the start of the race. I'm sure slower and faster runners were totally mixed up at the beginning which is annoying and dangerous. I'm still waiting for a response about what happened about my chip.
