In full: Entered one of the first (even won a calendar) but entry was lost, no race pack so had to reregister on the day. Race control was the other side of town from the start just off the beach near the finish. To get between both was a single road with beach traffic and pedestrians most of which were carrying inflatable crocodiles and dingy's, trying to get both ways also, bordering on chaotic. We got away on time to the muffled sound of someone saying something or other that finished with "GO".
The day was scorching hot with a water station at around 5k after the hill. Luckily for the organisers, quite a few thoughtful residents came out with thier hose pipes set on sprinkle, I'm sure that gave relief to a lot of runners.
The finish was on the beach, almost a mile of dodging children, prams, beach balls even adults straying obliviously in front of you. The finish (slightly lost in the crowded beach) was on soft sand so forget the sprint. WOW what a goody bag, 3 flyers and a banana.
Best bits...Marvelous crowds in a marvelous scenic location cheering runners on at every concievable point, and a nice medal.
Poor bits...Organisation needs a rethink on varios points, like the description on the web site telling us it would be low tide...Wrong !
Overall...OK not great. With a beach like that it could be a fantastic finish with presentation and not at a crowded pub later on.

In short: New to trail running, really enjoyed it. Welcoming and freindly, not clicky and clubby
