In short: Great atmosphere, well organised, fantastic finishing straight. In full: My first marathon, so hard for me to compare, but I thought this was a really well organised race. The marshalls and other volunteers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Course has some gentle hills in the first half but nothing too extreme - second half is flat. Scenery, with the exception of the section around the port in Shoreham is very nice. The only part I wasn't too keen on was the "cul-de-sac" in Hove but that may have been due to my legs seizing up at that point. But overall, a great race and a great experience. And not too crowded - unlike in London, I think most people were properly into their running after the first mile. Only area for improvement I can think of is a few more toilets at the start would be good. Date of review: April 12, 2011

In short: Beautiful course, excellent organisation, great weather. In full: If you've had enough of big city races, and want a bit of space to run, this is the race for you. Very good marshalls, friendly atmosphere, beautiful scenery to run through, and great support from the public all the way around. Highly recommended. Date of review: September 27, 2010

In short: Surprisingly scenic, mostly flat, some organisational issues but overall a good race. In full: Pros
Easy to get to by car; Generally flat, fast route (but with a sting in the tail); Good marshalling (I thought); Well-spaced, well stocked water stations; The start/finish venue has potential (but see below); Glorious weather :) Polite, friendly runners (compared to some big city events I've been to...)
Cons
No separation of faster and slower runners, and starting the 10k and half together caused congestion; Queues for baggage; Lack of signage at the start/finish area; Loud-speakers weren't very loud; Race pack was lacking in some information (e.g. map didn't show the start/finish);
Overall I thought it was a decent race and with a bit of work on the organisational front it could become an excellent one. Date of review: March 8, 2010
